Beautiful views and fun experience but service needs help

The top of Keystone Der Fondue is a must do. The experience of taking to Gondolas up to 11,444ft alone is worth it. Gorgeous views. The offer of the blankets is a nice touch too. Others have covered the food which is standard Swiss raclette style - hard to get that wrong. The strolling... read more

Recently dined at Der Fondue Chessel in Keystone, Colorado. I'll say this: The overall experience was pretty good. You take two beautiful gondola rides to a nice, quaint, "log cabin-type" restaurant tucked away in the gorgeous snow-laden hills. It's truly beautiful! Once there, I thought the fondue itself was average. Strangely, you actually grill your meats yourself instead of putting... More

The Fondue Chessel has always been a unique top-of-mountain experience in ski country, but this season the upgrades on menu and entertainment take it one more notch . This 5 course meal with traditional Swiss cheese fondue,Ceasar salad made at the table , entrees that you cook on a Swiss Raclette grill accompanied by sauteed potatoes, other veggies and of... Oh my goodness!!! We had children with us and our service from Ashton was terrible. I think they may have been understaffed. The food was good, but the service was so slow. We waited :30 for dessert and the children were not happy. This was our second and last visit.

Had dinner as well as a bowl of chili for lunch here recently. Dinner was expensive, but the experience was worth it. Chili is chili.

Spending over $200 for dinner for one adult and three kids is pretty outrageous. I did so only because my kids have never had fondue. I love the atmosphere at this place and it is uniquely located at the top of Keystone mountain. You have to take two gondola rides just to get to the Outback post. The dining hall... More

Went here with another couple. My wife doesn't ski, so it was awesome for her to be able to see the mountain. Food was great. Service was great too. The manager, Dominic came over and talked to us for a few minutes. He really wanted to make sure we were having a good time. We are locals, but I would... More

It's two gondola rides and a short trek through the snow to the huge, timbered lodge that houses Der Fondue Chessel. It's your basic "dip-it-in-cheese, grill it yourself" fondue routine, and the food is, in fact, very good. The fun is in the wait staff and the strolling musicians. The 2-accordion-one fiddle band has a very broad repertoire, performing polkas... More

Der Fondue Chessel is a must at some point when you visit Keystone - for the experience as much as the food - but go hungry and save room for the chocolate!!!

A delightful, but resort-expensive, experience. Two gondola rides up to the back of Keystone Mountain with nice warm blankets lead to the stone and lodgepole pine restaurant. We arrived early for our reservation (recommended) and walked into an empty room but for a family of 3; the hostess asked us to wait while our server okayed seating us early (really?... More
