This cafe is a total surprise. It is 10 miles west of Durango and 20 miles east of Cortez (Mesa Verde National Park) in the tiny community of Hesperus. Surrounded by aspen and fir trees, it is literally "in the woods." The first time we stopped, we were expecting a little "mom and pop" hamburger stand. This cafe is anything... More

We went here quite by accident and were thoroughly thrilled with our meal, service, and the setting. The artichoke is perfect and the salads superb. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in the area or don't want to fight the crowds in Durango. A reservation is suggested.

We have lived in this area for well all our lives basically and had never been to the Kennebec Café. We went for a drive and saw it, it was around dinner time so we decided to stop and give it a try. To our great delight it was awesome! It is a little on the pricey side but it... More

My husband and I love this place. It is our favorite restaurant. I've loved everything I've ordered over the years. I usually order the fish special because, lets face it, we live in a land locked area. No one in Durango knows how to cook fish but the Kennebec always cooks it to perfection and the sauces are wonderful. My... More

We stopped here, just by chance! Our RV started having problems so we ended up right in front of this restaurant. Luckily, we went inside to eat, not knowing anything about this restaurant. How lucky we were to come in!! The food was delicious!! My husband had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and I had the baked trout with trimmings.... More

A year ago our group of friends discovered this place on a 2-night stay in the area. We had a reservation for the first night and liked the food and service so much we went back the next night. This year we returned to the area and arrived at the restaurant with high expectations. We left seriously disappointed. The first... More

This is our go to place with out of town company. Barbara & her staff never disappoint -- especially Ben & John. Great service and food. The specials are always great as well as the lighter fare menu.

I love this place. Anytime I fly into Durango - I make sure I have dinner at Kennebec. It is nestled in the mountains and the views are just beautiful. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the food. The presentation was wonderful and the food was outstanding. Of course there is dessert and it was very yummy.... More

Once you figure out where the entrance is you will find a smiling face to take you to your table. My wife had one of the dinner specials cited by our wait person and was very pleased. I opted to try combining the roasted beet salad with a steak from the lighter fare section of the menu. Presentation and taste... More

This place has been here awhile always in a state of evolution. It has always been good but now it's great everything the menu is the star with lots of great options including pizza. Don't let that put you off. The service is friendly and spot on of what I at least expect in fine dining. The decor is pleasant... More
