Each time that we visit Glenwood Springs, we have to have dinner at the Italian Underground. We know for a fact that the sausage is homemade - and that the restaurant is a favorite for locals who have even going there for years. The food is fabulous - whether you choose the Roasted Chicken, pizza, Shrimp Fettucine or the Sampler... More

Recently was in Glenwood Springs looking for an Italian restaurant for dinner. We came across the Italian Underground. As the name implies, the restaurant is one floor below ground. When you enter the restaurant, you get that "Mom and Pop" Italian restaurant feel. All the tables have red and white tablecloths. All the people are casually dressed and enjoying themselves.... More

Atmosphere was great. The service was fast, yet the food underwhelming. The wine tasted as if it were uncorked for too long. I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce--too spicy and too much oregano. Homemade bread was dry. My daughter enjoyed the alfredo.

Good Italian, no matter where you are from. Prices are nice. The wait is the only issue so get there early enough or you'll be hanging our on the stairs for an hour or more. Still, that being said, it is worth the wait.

We spent the weekend (thru Sunday night) in Glenwood - try and hit the "favorite" eatery's either during the day or Sunday night. LOVED the food at the Italian Underground - great value for the money. We did not have a wait for a table when we arrived at 5pm

I was in the Glenwood area with my nephews and we decided to come here. We sure were happy we did. Great atmosphere, 2 steps above average food and an owner who is friendly with the patrons. All 3 of us had a different menu item and all were completely satisfied. This would be a nice place to entertain a... More

Just picky about pasta I guess, theirs was overcooked not properly al dente. Had rigatoni with sausage. But the portions are decent and come with a salad and bread so a good value. Service was just ok. Suggest going early because as the place fills up, the noise level becomes almost unbearable.

Great Italian food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere reminded my wife and I of family run restaurants in Central Italy. We had a great time.

The food was good but not my flavor of Italian, they do have generous portions. The flavor is more mild and not quite as good of tomato sauce flavor. The garlic butter that came with the bread was amazing, if you like lots of garlic. The staff were friendly and professional. The price is normal for an Italian dinner.
