Great pub

Been several times to this pub for drinks and food. Always good value, well presented and very tasty. Went tonight for the 7 before 7 which was really great and very filling!

A group of 4 visited the Punch Bowl during a visit to York. We had been given recommendations from friends. We had surf and turf , fish pie and vegtearian meal followed by desert. All dishes were excellent coupled with nice wines and local ales. Two courses plus drinks for 4 came to £112 but this was with two of us... More

We visited over a quiet mid week lunch time. The setting is quaint with a variety of small eating areas. Staff were pleasant. The food was served within approximately 30 minutes. It was well presented but expensive for the amount received and a little too well seasoned for us to make a return visit.

Stopped at this pub for a drink and something light to eat. They were only serving Sunday lunch which was £16.95 for two courses and we didn't want such a lot to eat.We were offered a sandwich and fries which, along with a soda with lime and a Lager shandy came to £30. The fact that we could have had... More

Following several recommendations from friends, my wife and I went for lunch today - we were not disappointed. We had a warm and friendly welcome from a wonderful lady. They were very busy as a function was on but this was explained to us and the timing wasn't an issue to us at all. The food was top quality -... More

As a regular visitor to the Punch Bowl I was sad to have a bad experience for an evening meal especially as I had recommended to a friend staying for the week end. Arrived early on Saturday evening to avoid the later rush and sat outside in the sunshine - lovely - however the food was poor, service almost non... More

The place appears very attractive and well kept when we dropped into The Punch Bowl on the way to Hampshire from Scotland. It isn't too far from the A1 and with good parking in a pretty village. We were pleasantly greeted, and served promptly with drinks and the menu. We didn't want a large meal and prefer light bar snacks... More

Been here a few times, we enjoy the atmosphere, the layout is great with smaller rooms around several fires.

We visitied the Punch Bowl in for sunday dinner. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it! the servies was quick and good and staff were welcoming. The inn itself had a good atmosphere and a nice country pub feel.

Visited on a an early Saturday evening with my family. This was our second visit since the ownership by this pub and hotel group. I could no complain about the staff or service as this was excellent, but the food was disappointing . The fish pie was mush with not solid pieces of fish in sight, although had a good... More
