Interesting Place

We stopped for lunch. It is an old historic hotel bed and breakfast and has a restaurant. The specials were plentiful and priced about average. There was not enough staff for a holiday weekend, but they were very attentive.

We booked a Saturday night at Fairplay Hotel for Mother's Day get away and had a wonderful stay there. We were so glad to hear they reopened under new ownership. The hotel is old (built 1873), has lots of character and history! They are dog friendly with no extra fees for furry children! Just the kind of places we love!... More

Great place to relax and get outta the line of apres ski traffic on hwy 9. Cozy victorian atmosphere with wonderful homemade hot chocolate that paired perfectly with my Frangelico. I love the fact that the new owners have kept the original bar and has that old time feel. The restaurant has a romantic ambiance and loved the touch of... More

We happened on this restaurant/hotel for lunch and we were ushered to the dining room with beautiful fixtures, linens on the tables, an old squeaky wooden floor which was wonderful, excellent service and attentive staff. Bison burgers were awesome. The special of the day was a tasty lamb gyro. Wish we could stay at the hotel (no elevator). On the... More

Car racing was more important than Sunday football. One of the 4 TV's (one was not even on) was blasting NASCAR and when I asked to turn it down a touch I was looked at like I had two heads. The hamburger & cheese sandwiches took 25 minutes to get served. Was hoping the new owner would be turning things... More

We came to the restaurant on Sunday morning, July 5, 2014 at 9:30 am only to fine one young man with hand tremors who seated us after we got his attention. There were only 4 other people there sitting at a table with menus who had not ordered yet but looked like they were ready. The young man told us... More

We ordered from the menu for breakfast. The sweet waitress said oh we are all out of that for each, hmm are they ready to open? The hotel where the restaurant and bar are located is charming old west. You can feel the " west alive!" as you stroll through Sure hope the get their act, together as can be so great!

Lynn & I had lunch with friends at the Fairplay Valiton Hotel recently. This was our first stop at this restaurant, but it won't be our last. Our server, Nicole (a 9th generation Coloradoan) , was friendly. She was also the new hotel manager and told us that the restaurant and hotel had only been open under the new management... More

If you have time to burn, don't care too much for the quality of your meal, but like quaint old surroundings, then this is the place for you. The hotel was built in 1873, and is quite a charmer in many ways, but continuing the restaurant operation in the present manner is a disservice.

Rather than waiting for a table at the Brown Burro, which we knew would be good, we went to the hotel restaurant. NEVER AGAIN. Two of us ordered fish and chips, two ordered the Mediterranean Salad, one hamburger and one Reuben. After 30 minutes the orders started coming out one at a time at 5 minute intervals! And the second... More
