Good food

great food, lovely staff, patient with us, and didn't push the issue about gratuity with us given we are from overseas which a lot of places do - though we did leave gratuity as the waitress was lovely.

We always enjoy J Alexander's. The dining room has rich woods, mostly booths, open kitchen. The food is very good, our favorite is the prime rib sandwich. Consistent good service, the prices are reasonable. Nice for a family dinner or date night, they offer salads, soup, burgers, various tacos, steaks, pasta, chicken. The warm carrot cake is to die for!

You can count on getting an excellent meal at J Alexander's. The wait staff are efficient and caring. The restaurant is very accommodating to my diet constraints. I cannot eat salt or gluten and they are always able to prepare my meal accordingly. The vegetables are fresh, seafood is fresh and all are prepared as you would want them to... More

We are visiting family in Denver, and they love this restaurant. They call it their go to place as you can always rely on the food to be good. They are right-- we had a wonderful dinner. We started with the fire roasted artichoke and I could have stopped there as it was so good-- we even ordered another one.... More

Had dinner there last weekend with some friends. I had not been there in a while. I found the food and service to be as good as ever, like the Hillstone blood line should be. Great steaks and seafood and chops and salads. I had a steak with mashed potatoes and a Ceasar salad first. All done just right. Others... More

This restaurant is better than most upscale grills and has become my go-to place when I have colleagues or friends who I want to treat to a nice lunch. The food has always been good, with the exception of one entree (half roasted chicken) several visits ago. The service is always very attentive, efficient and helpful. They obviously know how... We had a very enjoyable time, while out celebrating sale of a home. We arrived 20 minutes before they closed, but we were greeted warmly and told to take our time, and not worry about that time of the night. We were seated in a booth adjacent to the bar, and were warmly greeted by our server. Since it was... More

This is a great spot for a romantic dinner. My husband even commended the service. Your drink never goes more than half empty when there's another in front of you. The timing of the courses was spot on, without the "where is our food" waiting. I cannot commend the service enough. We were seated in time for our reservation &... More

If you want a first class meal in an adult environment with great service at a fair price, this is your place. We started out each having a caesar salad and the bread was fresh baked, warm and not at all doughy. My wife had a superb Ribeye steak and baked potato and I had Scottish Salmon and loaded baked... My wife and I started going to J. A's many years ago because we'd heard the prime rib was incredible (it was), but soon found ourselves at Fleming's Steakhouse in the same neighborhood. Part of the reason to switch was that it took FOREVER to get a table at J. A's (often 90 minutes). We decided that, for my birthday,... More
