When you enter Jean Pierre's you are immediately greeted by the warm aroma of French pastries coming out of a huge brick oven. As your eyes acclimate to the interior space, they will bring in the ambiance of massive beams and antique furniture dating from the late 19th Century when the building was built. We have shopped in the morning... More

Almost all mountain resort eateries are very cramped and crudely decorated. This place is an exception. Four for lunch on New Year's Eve enjoyed a very relaxed meal. Lobster-crab bisque was a winner and the tuna salad croissant was well received. The ham and brioche sandwich seemed a little production lined for a likely creative kitchen. No comments yet from... In a quick visit to Durango we just happened to find Jean-Pierre and what a fantastic find it was!!! We enjoyed brunch options and they were decadent and delightful! I had the Eggs Benedict and it was by far the best I've ever had! My fiancé was super pleased with his egg white omelet and fresh croissant. It was a... More

I've had many meals here over a span of 10 years, and the quality remains consistently good. Wait staff is eager, but not too experienced (many college students working in town). but be patient. Some of the chairs are too low for the tables, simple to remedy, if you get a low chair ask them to change it out. Perhaps... More

Croissants, strudel, muffins, macarons, almond royales, you name it we ate it. Jean Pierre's, although it costs a bit more, is worth every penny. Atmosphere is like being in a French farm house with lots and lots of interesting decor filled with the most delicious looking (and tasting) fine edibles. The "Operas" - a kind of torte layered with cookies... More

Wow, after living in France for 8 years I was happy to stumble upon this excellent bakery & restaurant in Durango. The baked goods are truly French and are baked fresh everyday. The chocolate croissant and latte were just like being in Paris. We ate breakfast but will return for lunch soon!

My wife and I have a tradition of doing "Twelve Bars of Christmas". As Durango locals we love to visit local restaurants to indulge in this holiday cheer, and this year we added Jean Pierre's...we were not disappointed! We always enjoy the funky Western/exposed beam decor, and Joshua's service was as excellent as the crab bisque.

Location is great (on Main Ave, downtown) and tables and decor welcoming. Server and ladies at bakery counter are accomodating and unfortunately that is all about it. Food: - very underwhelming and indeed I tried once years ago as well. Especially with crazy price like $15-17 for a crepe or usual american cheese and some meat between a crossant, customers... Stopped for baked goods, returned with group of friends for lunch. Lovely fragrance of baked goods and atomosphere that makes you think you are in France not the wild west. Food was good but baked goods better. Service was slow but think the server was new and we had special requests which seem to confuse him.
