The look of the restaurant is incredible, really feels like you are stepping back in history. It looks like a fancy restaurant but the service was beyond lousy. The food was below average, not well prepared. We ordered medium rare stakes and they were all well done. It's a shame with such a beautiful restaurant the food should be equally... More

'Nuff said. But I'll provide some context anyway. I was staying at the Strater and had breakfast at MG in the morning- that was fine. Service, food...splendid even. My MG dinner, however, nearly killed me. I don't know what, exactly, it was, but I had ordered the crab cakes, wine, and also had a dessert. Everything tasted fine, but within... More

Had a lovely evening meal here .The scallops served with forbidden rice was delicious and would definitely recommend it followed by Bananas Foster flambéed at the table .Our server was attentive and friendly .The decor is atmospheric and historic .The menu was interesting and caused a problem trying to decide what to have as could easily have chosen several dishes... We had a wonderful dining experience at the Mahogany Grille in Durango. We were with 4 grand children (ages 6 -16) and they loved it. The food was excellent and the service was superb. The ambiance was a perfect classical old time western, but with much class. Would highly recommend Mahogany Grille when in Durango.

This restaurant is in the historic Strater Hotel. The hotel itself is well worth visiting to get a great feel for the town and the old west. The restaurant is not heavily frequented by locals due to the steep price but the food is good as is the service. The menu is somewhat eclectic...ie... there are offerings and pairings you... More

We reserved the Mahogany Grill on our first night, because it was in the Strater hotel, where we were staying. If we did not have other following reservations, we might well have eaten here each of the other three nights. The food and the service were exemplary. I enjoyed Elk Medallions, and my wife absolutely loved the crusted Mountain Trout.... More

We only had breakfast here, and although the menu had remarkably interesting options. The buffet was a good buy because of the $10 per person price was reduced by the voucher from the hotel. Although we didn't manage to have dinner, we did check out the wind list which fully justifies the Wine Spectator awards posted around the room. Decor... More

BIG HINT: Go online to their website and see the dinner options. We did and it saved us money cause this restaurant is pricey. The menu pricing is based on ala carte ordering. We got there at 5 pm and was given the regular menu. Whoa, it would have been costly if we were to order an appetizer, entree and... More

Excellent wine list, and the pepper steak and tuna were excellent. Service exceptional--little spendy, but you will like this place--no, it's not the chain restaurant.
