We'd never had Himalayan food before so gave this place a try. The atmosphere felt authentic. Excellent service including manager coming around to ask how everything was. Food is similar to Indian with more use of fresh herbs. We ordered a chicken kabob which had been marinated over night in ginger, lime cilantro and mint....mouth watering superb. And even better... My wife and I recently ate at Himalayan Kitchen during a visit to Durango. We ordered both the vegetarian and meat varieties of the Nepalese Daal Bhaat. These combination plates give you a chance to sample several dishes including daal, salad with raita, vegetable curries and a choice of lamb or chicken curry with the meat sampler. Dessert is also... My wife and I tried the Himalayan Kitchen's lunch buffet while visiting Durango. We love Indian food and we're pleased with both the quality and value offered.

It is wonderful to find a restaurant that features authentic food that is healthy and tasty. On this visit we had Sherpa Stew and Himalayan Special Chow Chow. Both dishes were ample and we were able to take home left overs for another meal of rich and exotic flavors. Service was attentive. Environment clean and inviting. We stopped at the... More

Try the place twice on various ski trips to Durango. I could just have higher standards for Asian food, but both times I left disappointed. Boon's Thai Family Kitchen blows this restaurant out of the water in terms of food quality. Himalayan has a more fine dining atmosphere and the wait staff is good but, the food is only okay... More

There are many unique food experiences on the menu. Be brave! The food reminded me of Chinese and Indian influenced dishes, but very much its own distinct cuisine. It was all very good. We tried Yak meat dumplings and shared their versions of a thali platters. There was a spicy hot soup we guessed might be squash, yam or some... More

This looked like a favorite of locals which to me is always a good sign. Incredible choices on the menu.....it was hard to choose. Try the Yak! We did and were not disappointed. Incredible food and very popular.

We ate and had the yak. Very good. The salad is a must and can be easily split between 2 dinners. Very generous servings. It appears to be a local favorite.

Never having eaten Himalayan food we decided to give this restaurant a try. We shared dishes since we weren't certain exactly what we would be served or how much we would like it. We started with samosas. The cumin seasoning was very flavorful and good. The mixed grill platter gave us a good selection of chicken, shrimp and lamb. We... More
