Description: Steamworks Brewing Co. Opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. A favorite watering hole for locals and visitors alike, the brewpub has much more to offer than award-winning craft beer. Known as a town meeting place, Steamworks enjoys a bustling, fun environment. Steamworks' culinary program is unmatched in the region in both breadth and quality of offerings. The "gastropub" fare includes regionally-raised meats and sustainable seafood. Healthy salads, delicious pizzas, spicy Southwestern-style dishes, and vegetarian & gluten-free offerings provide something for everyone who's hungry. The Steam Engine Lager is "arguably the best American - Style Amber Lager in the world" as it has garnered four Gold Medals, a Silver and a Bronze Medal at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) over the years and also has taken a Silver Medal at the World Beer Cup (WBC). Steamworks has won a total of twelve GABF medals, and two WBC medals. The brewpub maintains up to 18 styles of beer on tap.

My daughter and I both had a flight (6 tasters) of beers plus two more...14 total! Great variety and most of them outstanding. My least favorite was the Prescribed Burn...it's got chilies in it and is HOT! I love hot food but I like my beer without a burn. :-) Try it though, you might like it. Friendly atmosphere and... We always love to go here. It has a great brewery atmosphere and the food is good. Free peanuts and you can throw the shells on the floor.

Steamworks is on our family's A-List for brews and casual dining. Various family members enjoy everything from kolsch to red ale, pale ale and lager. We always order Steam Engine Lager when we ride the train, and we like to try the seasonal brews when we visit the mothership. Be sure to check the alcohol content on the ales --... More

From the outside, Steamworks Brewery does not look like much. Inside it is attractively decorated and bustling with customers. We discovered on Fridays, glasses of beer are a buck with pints being $2.00. For each beer purchased, a ticket is given for a drawing. When happy hour ends at 6 pm, they draw for prizes. I won a keg which... More

Service is good, beer is good, but the chicken & waffles are to die for. The wings are great and the mac& cheese as well. We were here for a week and made it a point to go to this place twice.

Service was very slow but the food was good and the beer was excellent. After all, they ARE a brewery but none the less, it was yummy :-) Fun atmosphere and can easily accommodate small or large parties.

Love the Backdoor Stout! Amazing food! Way better than most bar food. I had the buffalo chicken pizza and my husband had the meatball sandwich. If you love Italian food, the meatball sandwich is a MUST have! Fresh mozzeralla, sauce with some spice, delicious! We also got the calm chowder and LOVED it! It was winter when we visited but... I travel to Durango for work every week. I have a widely diverse group of friends(vegetarians to "omni-vores") and the steamworks menu has something for all. Go early, get your pager, and enjoy the massive craft beer list and free peanuts
