Our Favorite Restaurant in Durango...and we live there!

We have dinned at Sow's Ear for years...but finally are writing a review, since it is our #1 "to go to" restaurant in Durango. Yes...another "the chef is the owner" dining delight. First, we love the personal attention Krissy, the Maitre D, gives us in placing us at our usual "table by the... read more

We visited this area last month and had a delicious dinner here. The portions are perfect, the service was good. Our steaks were wonderful. We were so pleased that we came back the next night and ordered the exact same thing. We discovered Sow's Ear when it was at the base of Purgatory about 22 years ago and loved it... More

The restaurant is a 30 minute drive from downtown Durango. Very expensive place to eat and therefore never crowded. They have their own chef so the food is good and different. So if you want a meal without the crowd this place is for you

After a month stay and cooking for half my vacation because it was hard to find some good food without being to expensive I decided to try a nice dinner out so based on the recommendations I went buy on my way back from town to see the inside and felt at home and after I talked to the young... A great restaurant in the mountains with great views - if you get seated on the east side of the restaurant. Our group all elected for "small plates" which were more than adequate. I had seared salmon with a wonderful risotto, very enjoyable. The waiter was a bit 'stiff' and we had to wait quite a while for our food... More

Don't be misled by the name..it sounds iike it could be a pub somewhere...not so! It's a "white tablecloth", fine dining establishment located in the Silverpick Lodge just outside Durango near Purgatory ski area. Between Durango Mountain and the Old Schoolhouse pizza place, there's not much of a selection of places to eat in the area. We were staying a... More

Excellent restaurant right down the street from Purgatory ski area. Great food, drinks and service. I've eaten at the bar and at the restaurant and had great food both times, the bar is a little more casual with a smaller menu and the restaurant has some great views of the surrounding mountains.

Typical of higher end resort restaurants. Nothing special, wouldn't hurry back. Decent service and wine list

Had a great meal with the family. The restaurant is very nice, had a nice view from our bay window looking up the mountain. My wife and daughter had the filet, my son had the burger, and I had the ribeye special. All our meals were delicious. The only reason for no 5 stars is the service was a little... More

Duck confit spring rolls were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Delicious!! Ample serving for 2 people. I had the petite filet, husband had (OK, I don't remember) but he LOVED it. Great service! He didn't discriminate against us because we looked like slobs after spending the entire day driving across Co. Very nice atmosphere, excellent selection on menu & wine list!... More
