The chicken fried steak was unusual, but very tasty. Unfortunately the vegetable was a canned or heated frozen kind. Disappointing. It looks as if it is a family style restaurant from the outside, but serving canned vegetables & hard store bought rolls was not appetizing. We were so very hungry for homemade pie after dinner, but the few slices that... More

Waitress was as disconnected as is possible, threw plates on table and basically ignored patrons, except those she knew. I would never go back for the food, 2nd rate at best.

I would have given this two stars if I was just rating their lunch and dinners. Tried the roast beef---tasted like it was out of a can. Tried mexican food--blah. Tried two other main dishes other times---lousy or dry or old. Salad bar didn't even have tomatoes. They clearly could care less. But what bumped it up to 3 stars... More

When we stay at the Dolores Mountain Inn, we are able to get our breakfast to-go! It is always good and convenient.

Ate supper here. The meal was delicious and the meals at other tables looked very pleasing and well cooked. The evening cook seems to be quite good. Keeping in mind that this is a café and not a restaurant, therefore more casual, the two young waitresses were still very below par. We would return for the excellent cooking.

Good prices but very lacking on the cooking side. Had a lunch special of chicken & gravey over rice. The rice had portions of uncooked rice in it. The salad bar was okay as well as the tea.

Visited twice in two days for breakfast. Probably the best breakfasts we had during our three week trip to the States. The staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend The Ponderosa.

Restaurant is average; service is good; owners are friendly, nothing outstanding except for chicken fried steak and real mashed potatoes.

The Pondo, as it's known locally, is one of my favorite places for lunch. I love the grilled cheese with green chilis and tomatoes and a side of fries. The food is always good, service is quick and prices are reasonable. It's not fancy, but it is homey. Love this place! xoxo...
