South Pearl Street's Best

South Pearl Street has a two block stretch with a half dozen of Denver's best eating establishments. We vote for Black Pearl as the best of these best! I have dined at this restaurant probably 7 times over the past few years and it is always consistently very good. The staff is accommodating, helpful, and appropriately engaging. The last visit I was alone and was going to sit at the very nice bar to eat, so as not to take up a table for a couple. The very... More

My husband and I visited Denver recently, and dined at several different restaurants. Nothing compared to our experience at the Black Pearl. Chef Mitch is an up and comer for sure. He has a very bright future. The duck liver mousse and the short ribs are not to be missed. The gnocchi was exceptional as well. We love the decor... More

We went to celebrate a friend's birthday and we had reservations on a Saturday evening. It was crowded. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was also excellent. Everyone else was alright with their meal, but I pushed mine around on my plate to make it look like I had eaten some of it. The grilled romaine salad was... More

I live in the neighborhood. I've tried the pearl several times and have never been treated well. I must not look rich enough to garner good service. I always feel as though we don't belong.

Way overpriced and not that good at all. Have been few times for dinner and for brunch. Plates are too expensive and small. You will leave brunch hungry and broke. Having said all that - the space is great and it seems to do a decent business. Although everyone I speak to about it doesn't think it's that good. Maybe... More

Unique food in a great open atmosphere. Inside or out the setting is very comfortable. We were very impressed with the brunch and the bottomless mimosas.

How nice to be sitting at the bar with the doorways open to a pretty patio looking out on Pearl Street. This restaurant knows how to take advantage of nice weather to enhance the dining experience, especially after dark when the fire pit is lit. The wines were excellent and the scallops were cooked to perfection! The edamame corn cakes... More

This is the restaurant for you if you like casual dining that still has high standards for food and wine. The Black Pearl has an excellent wine list, very knowledgable service, and excellent food, so don't be fooled by the casual environment and location. Its a very neighborhood place, right down to the water bowl for the local dogs being... More

FOOD POISONING from veggie eggs benedict. Need I say more! I was extremely ill for 36 hours straight after eating here. I called the manager/sous chef to let them know of the incident and I simply got an "ok." They were unapologetic and could have cared less. Very disappointing.
