Had a three day weekend in Denver and discovered one amazing bistro--RIOJA. Not sure where to begin---classy yet informal, reminding me of some of my favorite NYC/ West Village bistros but with the laid back feeling of San Francisco--which is to say---very "urban Denver". OK, how about calling it "bohemian elegance". Our servers (there were a number of them and... More

Rioja is located on Larimer St. In many towns it is the type of street that would be very touristy, with restaurants to match. But Larimer is better than that. My friend and I had a 6:30 reservation. I got there, alone about 10 minutes early, and then took me straight to my table. When I had first entered the... More

Housemade Doughnuts- 5/5 Cantaloupe Consomme- 3/5 (good but essentially just cantaloupe water) Fresh Bacon- 5/5 (wow... sounds kinda boring but tastes AMAZING) Artichoke Tortelloni- 4/5 (good but not something i would order again) Morning Cocktails- 4/5 (better than most places but i'm still craving real cocktails) Service- 5/5 (our waitress was very nice and helpful) Atmosphere- 3/5 (very conservative, not... The thing I really came away with, the thing that stands out...is the service. Everyone we dealt with here was superbly professional and friendly. No stuffiness here! Our server was Adrian and I can't say enough good things about him. His wine recommendations were spot on. We chose the 'picnic' for the appetizer. Very good and beautifully presented. I had... More

Can’t say enough good things about Rioja! We spend 7 days in Colorado and had meal twice at Rioja. Unbelievable Artichoke Ravioli with truffle oil. Their signature dish is truly fantastic, not to mention their homemade breads and biscuits! We also had veggie sandwich and brioche french toast. All a of it was fantastic. Wine list is great and who... More

The presentation and service were amazing - don't get me wrong. Also, the Lavender Rocks cocktail was refreshing. But when it came to the food, nobody in our party enjoyed what they selected. Sausage in the Pacchetti was overly salty. I barely touched the corn fritters and just went straight after the Berkshire Pork Chop when my plate came. I... More

The menu is unusual and amazing. We loved each course. The chef creates very interesting combinations of tastes. Our server was wonderful. There is a person serving breads that are also incredible--try the lavender sourdough! We ended up with 3 desserts because we couldn't narrow to two and they were also wonderful. Wish we lived in Denver--we'd eat here more... More

Best pork chop I have ever had. Great service, fantastic food. Highly recommend. Sat at the table connected to the kitchen so I cannot attest to the experience within the dining room.

Had dinner here for my anniversary, read all the good reviews and landed on Rioja. If this is Denver's best, go to another city. Pork belly appetizer was very good but that is where it stopped. Lamb was barely edible and the Risotto with the Scallops was poorly prepared. A good note is the wait staff is very good.
