Get the buffalo!

The place to go to try buffalo. Crowded atmosphere, bar upstairs, not a romantic setting, but wonderful food, service and great for family or casual dining.

Not knowing what to expect, i went with a friend for dinner. Special of the night was Yak. I combined that with Elk. Both good but I preferred the Yak. Tried Rocky mountain oysters for the first time..actually, quite good. Not a place for cheap eats but worth it once in a while. Great place.....

I picked the Buckhorn for lunch as a great place to start our family reunion. Every member of our party enjoyed the museum history, the amazing hospitality, and good food. We were seated off in a secluded area where we could relax and be ourselves. The following were the highlights of our meals. The surprise of the meal was the... More

I had lived in Colorado for almost 40 years and always wanted to go to the Buckhorn Exchange. When we came back to Colorado this time we went for lunch. It's amazing how much history is inside this restaurant. There are over 500 hundred wildlife mounts. There are original pictures from the 1800's, some of them signed by famous Wild... More

This is Denver's oldest restaurant and is in a slightly out of the way place. Don't get a taxi, go on the tram caar. One stop from the convention centre and there is the restaurant. Now my third visit and I will return. Variety of meats is great, rattle snake, bison, elk, deer, beef. Teh ribs were historic. Good value... More

Looking for a unique dining experience? This place is it. Wild game, unusual decor, not for the vegan crowd. but if you want to try Elk, Rattlesnake,Yak, etc... Then give it a try. Traveling for business can be monotonous , big chain steakhouses all become a little lackluster after a while. The food here is good to very good, I... More

This building is historic, the history is very interesting, and the food is excellent. We started with a rattlesnake cheese dip that was very good. In our group, we tried quail, elk and buffalo ... all of it was very good. Wished we had room for dessert. The staff was very informative and helpful. A post dinner stroll around the... More

I went to this restaurant with a group of people under the understanding it was an Irish restaurant serving authentic Irish food. However, they only offer one Irish dish during the lunch time which most often is fish and chips. Everyone in the group ordered something other than Irish. I myself had to order something Mexican. When asking for corn... More

We had dinner with four colleagues during the ATS convention in Denver at The Buckhorn Exchange. Very polite people who know their menu and stuffed animals. We decided to go for Buffalo Oysters and Rattlesnake for starters. That's something you don't find that often on menu's in Europe. Both tasted good! As entree I had the combo of Buffalo and... More

As the oldest restaurant in Denver, this place should be a stop for anyone interested in History, a second reason to stop is the unique food options. It's a very OLD building so do not expect to be at a new chain place! Restrooms UPstairs, no elevator. NOT accessible building. It is also somewhat expensive for the food you can... More
