Lovin' Denver Downtown Mexican

Very cool atmosphere and friendly staff and good food! Had a great lunch special with half quesadilla and soup or salad for only $8.50 and was more than enough food. Hubby indulged in margs and apps and was totally pleased. The patio was not open as it was snowing but looks like the perfect place... read more

One of our favorite places to eat in Denver. The chips and salsa are good and they have some great happy hour specials. I split chicken fajitas with my daughter. We got the serving for one and it filled us up. It was a real chunk of chicken, not the chicken mesh you get other places. We will go back.

WE eaten here since they first opened about 20 times. Don't every go there within an hour of closing, because you will get the worst service and food . They were out of tea, they gave us the wrong appetizer which we sent back, the rice and beans has 0 seasoning, and the chili rellenos peppers were so hard I... More

Renee, please accept my apology for the poor service & food you received on your recent visit to the Rio. I've spoken with the manager on duty for that shift so that we can be sure to make all adjustments needed to deliver fantastic service, food & drinks from open to close. I'm confident that if you do choose to... More

Based on reviews, I expected a lot more of this place. Chips and salsa were cold and relatively poor quality - always a decent gauge for the rest of the experience. I got the chicken burrito and left a bit disappointed. While it was average, it was nothing I would stop back for. The margaritas were highly recommended, but I... More

I'm so sorry to hear about your recent lackluster visit to the Rio - we can do much better than that! Our complimentary house made salsa & chips should be just the start of a great dining experience. If you do stop by on a future visit to Denver, I'm confident we will deliver a fun & delicious time. Thank... More

I'm just going to echo what many others have said. The food is not that good, its good chain Mexican food from the 90s. Ground beef, red sauce, combination plates..... But the margaritas are tasty, and strong enough to make the limit of 3 seem reasonable. So maybe just stop in, get an appetizer and drinks and hop up the... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on the Rio! I think you may have gotten our food confused with D'Corazon which is right across the street, as we do not serve ground beef or combo plates. We do have the dangerously delicious Limit 3 Margs though! I recommend trying our smoked chicken tacos or veggie fajitas... More

I came here for happy hour with a group of 7. We were seated promptly and were waited on by several pleasant staff members. It took almost 30 minutes for our first round of drinks to appear though! After that little hiccup the rest of the evening went smoothly. The classic margarita was just ok - a little bit less... More

We were disappointed in the food and margaritas. For $8 I was served one guacamole tostado with a single dollop of guacamole. The house margarita was small and lacked much flavor. Of the four entrees ordered the only one that was good was the chimichanga. It was very crowded with a long wait for a table. With so many choices... More

I'm so sorry to hear about your disappointment with your recent visit, although we don't serve chimichangas so I am wondering if you may have confused us with another establishment. If you do visit again, please your server will be happy to make menu recommendations tailored to your exact taste. Our aim is 100% guest satisfaction, so let us know... More

This restaurant has a scenic outdoor area for those wishing to eat or just drink and enjoy being outside in downtown Denver. Went here while in Denver for business and was not disappointed. The margaritas were great, and the food was decent. Go here for the atmosphere.

This place had a rep of being one of the best places in Denver to get a marg and it did not disappoint! Food and service were also good

We visit here regularly. ...especially during Colorado Rockies games so we can vouch on their consistency. Their margaritas are excellent but their food is basic and is definitely not the best Mexican food around Denver. Go here for the margaritas but expect the food to simply cure hunger pains.

Thanks so much for sharing your margarita love! I bet our scratch kitchen could still change your mind about our food though. Next time you're in for cocktails ask your server for some recommendations geared toward your particular taste - or stop by for happy hour when some of our fantastic tacos are just $3! Hope to see you soon. More
