Great margaritas and enchiladas

This place was packed for Sunday brunch/lunch--probably because of the Margaritas! They were darned good. I had a Crab & Shrimp Enchilada, along with a Spinach Enchilada. They were delicious. Even the rice and black beans were delicious--not your usual slop!

I've been to this restaurant a number of times when I used to work downtown years ago and have always liked their food and margaritas. Until this past Saturday night, it had been a while since I'd been here. But my wife had a cousin in town from Israel and we wanted to introduce him to Mexican food while downtown... More

Probably the best margaritas and guacamole I have had! Super yummy for sure! The other food we ordered was good as well. The interesting part of the margaritas is that even though they may be stong they do not taste it. I would absolutely go back again.

It was very sad to go to The Rio Grande. I was expecting great food. As everyone knows from Texas you can't go wrong ordering beef enchiladas. Unfortunately my meet tasted more like soy sauce then meat. On the other hand my wife's flautas were very good. It appears as though the food is not consistent.

Dan, I apologize that our steak enchiladas were not to your liking on your recent visit. Our owner is originally from Texas, so we really take to heart our Texan guest opinions! I've followed up with our kitchen manager to ensure that our marinade recipe is being correctly followed. I'm confident that if you do chose to return on a... More

Very cool atmosphere and friendly staff and good food! Had a great lunch special with half quesadilla and soup or salad for only $8.50 and was more than enough food. Hubby indulged in margs and apps and was totally pleased. The patio was not open as it was snowing but looks like the perfect place for a marg and whatever... More

One of our favorite places to eat in Denver. The chips and salsa are good and they have some great happy hour specials. I split chicken fajitas with my daughter. We got the serving for one and it filled us up. It was a real chunk of chicken, not the chicken mesh you get other places. We will go back.

WE eaten here since they first opened about 20 times. Don't every go there within an hour of closing, because you will get the worst service and food . They were out of tea, they gave us the wrong appetizer which we sent back, the rice and beans has 0 seasoning, and the chili rellenos peppers were so hard I... More

Renee, please accept my apology for the poor service & food you received on your recent visit to the Rio. I've spoken with the manager on duty for that shift so that we can be sure to make all adjustments needed to deliver fantastic service, food & drinks from open to close. Based on reviews, I expected a lot more of this place. Chips and salsa were cold and relatively poor quality - always a decent gauge for the rest of the experience. I got the chicken burrito and left a bit disappointed. While it was average, it was nothing I would stop back for. The margaritas were highly recommended, but I... More

I'm so sorry to hear about your recent lackluster visit to the Rio - we can do much better than that! Our complimentary house made salsa & chips should be just the start of a great dining experience. If you do stop by on a future visit to Denver, I'm confident we will deliver a fun & delicious time. Thank... More

I'm just going to echo what many others have said. The food is not that good, its good chain Mexican food from the 90s. Ground beef, red sauce, combination plates..... But the margaritas are tasty, and strong enough to make the limit of 3 seem reasonable. So maybe just stop in, get an appetizer and drinks and hop up the... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on the Rio! I think you may have gotten our food confused with D'Corazon which is right across the street, as we do not serve ground beef or combo plates. We do have the dangerously delicious Limit 3 Margs though! I recommend trying our smoked chicken tacos or veggie fajitas... More

I came here for happy hour with a group of 7. We were seated promptly and were waited on by several pleasant staff members. It took almost 30 minutes for our first round of drinks to appear though! After that little hiccup the rest of the evening went smoothly. The classic margarita was just ok - a little bit less... More
