Root Down aims to connect the neighborhood to a dining experience in the same way ingredients are connected to food. There should be a seamless bond between the elements and experience, which stimulates the senses and draws people in. Root Down serves “globally influenced seasonal cuisine,” which basically means we go where inspiration leads us. We’re not tied to one style or genre—we’re hoping to create one of our own. At Root Down we pride ourselves on striving to solve the ‘Omnivore’s Dilemma.’ We have created a dining spot where all dietary needs will be accommodated, including vegetarian, vegan, raw and gluten free; also allergies or intolerances are always handled professionally by the kitchen team. Our menu has icons reflecting this philosophy, though we always request you notify your server of specific needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Great Food, Great Atmosphere

While in town for a conference my wife and her co-workers all had supper at Root Down. It is in what appears to be a renovated auto shop. We were seated in a semi-private area that has the tops of cans covering the wall. The selection of wine, beer and cocktails is really quite excellent. I had the... read more

This is a small plate spectacular. There is nothing to leave out, Try it all. Especially the curry carrot soup with poms at the bottom of the soup bowl!

Menu simple, food abundant, service excellent, a little loud, and expensive. The food was good size portions, and coffee real good. The décor was great with all old garage things. And water served in chemistry lab bottles.

I've been to this place numerous times for happy hour, dinner, drinks and brunch and it always exceeds my expectations. I love to eat in the bar area and especially enjoy the happy hours. If you like delicious local food in a cool atmosphere-- this is it.

We were staying in the neighborhood and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. They had just started serving brunch on Fridays the week before and the place was already crowded. We enjoyed terrific tacos, vegetarian eggs benedict and crispy chicken and biscuits. The bloody marys are fabulous and they offer a bottomless mimosa that the people at the next... More

Root Down is no secret in Denver's LoHi district. It's lively bar, fantastic food and trendy location keep it one of Denver's hot spots. The menu is stocked with both standard fare and vegan choices. Plenty to satisfy anyone"s dietary preferences with beautifully prepared dishes. Root Down is a smaller more intimate version of it's bigger sister Linger. We have... More

I've eaten at Root Down a few times and its usually pretty good. Lots of gluten free options and most of the meals seem pretty healthy-- lots of root veggies (duh! whole theme of the restaurant), done in really creative and definitely not same-old same-old grandma's kitchen fashion. More upscale, much tastier and more exciting. That said, reservations are almost... More

I have been here many times, and love it every time. I have even been during Restaurant Week, when many restaurants give less than their all. They were great, and didn't give any less than a stellar performance. Service is great, food is delicious and the cocktails are fantastic!

Fabulous atmosphere. Fresh air. Natural light. Great cocktails. Food was deeeeeelish. Only complaint was that the bartender we scored (we dined at the bar) was very inattentive. Very. He was focused on chatting with his friends at the end of the bar. Good news was that we understood he was leaving the job soon.
