We enjoyed our dinners, but couldn't eat everything that was served. One of us had the prime rib sandwich and the other had the buffalo burger. The portions were huge. The flavor of the food was great, but a person can only eat so much.... I felt guilty leaving so much food behind. Service was good. It wasn't a busy... More

Another really tasty meal. Salads were very good, loved the blue cheese dressing. Always live the rib eye here and the sugar snap peas were very good. Don't forget desert, apple pie with vanilla ice cream!!!!

If you're a steak connoisseur don't miss the Wooden Nickel. They had cuts of beef I've never even heard of before and everything we tried was delicious. The portions are really generous so come hungry.

I have enjoyed a hearty dinner here a few times. Service is prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a Wild West saloon. Although they are best known for their meat dishes, my friend and I both chose fish. The lightly blackened wild trout was excellent. Salmon was also good. They don't skimp on portions here but note that... More

The FAMOUS prime rib is no better than one might have at a Sizzler. I seriously doubt the cut was prime. It was not tender nor juicy nor well seasoned. Decent, edible but not worth the stunning price. The baked potato was prime however. Slow service, nice server but seemed "clueless". The restaurant is attractive, one feels they are in... More

We're from Golden, CO, and my all-time favorite restaurant is the Capital Grille. So, I am not deterred by steakhouse prices. My husband and I got a referral to the Wooden Nickel by a Crested Butte native when they heard we were going to visit for the first time. This was a very fun evening! The food was exceptional, the... Very western menu: elk, buffalo, beef, etc. One of the oldest buildings in town, so it has true rustic atmosphere. Great wait staff, hearty food prepared to perfection, excellent drinks. It is a bit expensive, but well worth the prices.

We recently ate here with another couple. We were seated in the back, which was initially very loud and crazy because of a party with rowdy children running about. Not the restaurants fault at all. After that party departed, we had a wonderful, peaceful meal. Two of us ordered the prime rib and one couple shared a filet mignon. The... More

Every time we go there we have a great meal and the service is very nice. We had the elk and it was cooked perfect. We will always go there for several meals while we are here.

Our hotel recommended the Wooden Nickel for its hamburgers. We went there and I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and my wife ordered the "small" filet mignon. But first we each had a salad. She had the house salad and i had the iceburg wedge with blue cheese dressing and blue cheese crumbles. I have never before seen that much... More
