The brussels sprouts were awesome. I tried the chicken fried elk smothered in gravy and mashed potatoes-very good. Quality was good featuring a fair selection of beers. A pleasant atmosphere in a nice setting. Service was very friendly and checking back with us to take care of our needs. Maybe a tad pricey for us, but all in all a... More

After leaving Princess Bar, where we had a very unpleasant experience with the bartender/waitress we left and came to one of our favorites and met Courtni. She was so awesome by comparison - friendly, attentive and well versed on Maxwellls (Yes, Courtni, the Brussell Sprouts would put any other to shame - gotta try). We have a property near Crested... We enjoyed dinner at Maxwell's a few nights ago. My daughter and her boyfriend just announced their engagement so my wife and I wanted to take them out for a nice meal to celebrate. We were very pleased with the food and the service. Our waiter, Sean, was friendly, knowledegable and thoroughly professional. For an appetizer we enjoyed the shaved... More

The owner is completely offensive.... Gave a customer verbal abuse after overcooking her $50.00 entree.

I am terribly sorry if I offended anyone but I cant remember an overcooked entree item since i took over August 1st. My stance is and always will be to make any issue right in my restaurant. Could you please remind me of the incident? More

I'll admit right off that we were probably spoiled by eating at Machiatelli's the night before. The food was okay at Maxwell's - how can you mess up a steak? But the service was slow and not well informed. The young waitstaff needed training in some rudimentary lessons about restaurant work.

Thank you so much for your comments on your recent visit. I purchased the restaurant August 1st and greatly appreciate the feedback. The food quality and consistency has been my first battle to tackle but know there is much more. Is there any chance you could give me specifics of the steak and service. I do apologize for the level... More

...and the peach cobbler was world class. OK so for $53 the beef had better be special, and it was. Most prime rib is sliced from a rack of ribs, but this was an individual piece cooked over a charcoal/mesquite grill. As such, it was just fabulous. The other members of our group had the filet and their comments were... More

Ribeye was ave but cooked just right. Atmosphere is nice but not warm and inviting. Garlic mashed potatoes were watery and lifeless. Service nice but avarage. Chartuterie plate was uninspired. Missed the mark.

I have to say I was not impressed with Maxwells. Because the hardwood floors have no carpeting and the bar is in the center of the dining area, the noise level is really uncomfortable. The service was average but you had to shout your order to the server to hear over the din. In addition, the room was hot and... More

Had dinner with a large group in the back of restaurant. Servers and kitchen managed serving our group very promptly with accuracy and hot food. Inside of restaurant got quite warm because it was packed with customers.

It's unexpected to find a truly fine dining experience in the small town of Crested Butte, but this is notable. Reasonable prices but the plates could have appeared on the Food Network. I had a steak and my son had New Zealand venison and both were exceptional. The chocolate cake was also amazing. Great service and atmosphere. There was a... More
