For over 40 years this family-owned German Restaurant on the south side of Colorado Springs has served over a million happy customers. The restaurant invites guests to dine in one of its several rooms decorated with artifacts from Europe. With strolling musicians on Friday and Saturday nights, three blazing fireplaces in winter, and an authentic "Biergarten" in summer, you are sure to enter into another world as a guest at Edelweiss. The authentic menu with a variety of Old World German dishes includes Schnitzel, Bratwurst, and Sauerbraten, with newer-age items such as Flammekuchen and Maultaschen. For those not so adventurous palates Edelweiss offers other Continental fare such as Chicken Cordon Bleu, Filet Tournedos, or Fresh Salmon Filet. Imported German Beers and Wines can be ordered to compliment any of the flavorful dishes. The European-trained Swiss Pastry Chef bakes all of the desserts from scratch, so save room for one of the rich Tortes or pastries, or take some to go.

3/4ths German and Still Loved this Restaurant

I was at the Edelweiss for lunch in January 2014 and could hardly wait to return there for dinner with my husband in May 2015. I can't comment on how the dessserts are because both times I ate so much of my meal that I couldn't begin to eat a dessert too! My husband is 3/4ths German and he... read more

The staff are friendly, prompt, and helpful. Good food. Excellent beer. I recommend the wienerschnitzel and the pilsner or the dunkel on draft.

Excellent food and service. Desserts were to die for. Our waiter took the time to answer our questions and gave us the history of the place. Current owners are from Heidelberg, so I'd call that authentic.

We came for a late lunch. I had the roulon special which was thinly sliced beef rolled up with mustard and sliced pickles and a brown gravy. The flavors meshed together very well. It came with fried potatoes and red cabbage. My husband had the weinerschnitzel and he loved it--very fresh. We split an apple strudel which was plenty for... More

If you really want good German food, you need to come to Texas and eat somewhere like Fredericksburg. For the $55 we paid for this meal, it wasn't worth it. Not bad, just not worth it. The ambience is good and it's a nice place. Just too expensive for what you get.

Overall the food was very good. Rahm schnitzel was good but wasn't as crispy as you get in Germany. Spatel and Rahm sauce were excellent. The waiter didn't know what a Berlin Weisse was, tried to tell me it was something different. The only thing really bad was the Rotkohl, (red cabbage), it had a smokey flavor and a thick... More

Visited with wife in Oct 2014. Service was very friendly, but a little on the slow side. We ordered the Bayrische Schweinshaxe and Rouladen. The Schweinshaxe tasted like a fatty slow cooked pork, and the Rouladen was dry and tough. It was not even close to the food that we had for years in Bavaria.

We were disappointed with the food. Red cabbage was too salty and sauce was very thick/sticky. spatzel had to be store bought, it was tough and tasteless. The Rouladen was kind of bland. The Spiessbraten was tender and flavorful but was not very warm. Kind of like they warmed it in a microwave. On the bright side the service was... More

This visit we were able to eat outside which was very nice. The menu, I thought, was very traditional. I had the bratwurst plate and may have been the best I ever had.

We chose this restaurant to have lunch with our god-daughter and her new husband. The atmosphere on the patio was perfect for our lunch. The server was friendly and prompt. the food was very good. The selection of beers was impressive. A fun place and we will return.
