Certainly worth a try!

If you like history and ambience, then this is a great place to grab lunch or a beer. Just seeing the Face on the Barroom Floor is worth at least a drink or two.

Thank heavens the Central City Opera Association has partnered with Kevin Taylor to provide delicious food adjacent to the historic Central City Opera House! Other offerings in town are inferior: in casinos, smoky environment, low quality... Rouge is in the historic Teller House with the famous "Face on the Bar Room Floor". The salads were wonderful, and the burger &... More

The Teller House is a fascinating old building and has the famous "Face on the Barroom Floor." We ate in the atrium which was simple but pleasant and sunny. The menu had a nice variety with reasonable prices. Our food was good though not spectacular. The service was adequate but if our server had shown some warmth and interest in... More

Interesting restaurant......... Good food, nice plate presentations. Everything is a' la Carte', salad from $9-$12, entree from $25-$30, dessert from $9-$10. It's an experience, much like what you get & pay at for instance, Morton's Steakhouse. Went to Opera in the next buiding, supposed to be oldest opera house west of the Mississippi........... Great evening over all !

This place puts you back in the 1700's. Amazing they were able to keep it in this state...very worthwhile tour.

Located in the historic Teller Hotel building connected with the Central City Opera House, this is an elegant, friendly place. Though a little limited, the dual-purpose lunch/dinner menu has good variety and is all very good, with nice fresh ingredients and excellent service. I had the pulled pork sandwich for lunch and a Cobb salad for dinner on a recent... More

We ate at Rouge once and cancelled our second reservation. I had the tuna tartare appetizer with house made sesame crackers. The ahi tuna was fine but the crackers had no crack and were limp. My main was coffee crusted lamb loin with bread pudding and wilted greens. The greens were incredibly bitter and inedible. They overpowered everything else on... More

Our anniversary dinner at Rouge was a head-shaking disappointment. I can't believe Kevin Taylor has anything to do with that place. First of all, the "restaurant" was a nondescript, converted banquet room normally used, I assume, for wedding receptions and meetings of the Rotary. Even worse than the ambiance was the dinner. My watercress salad was so peppery it tasted... More
