Looking for a good microbrew in Carbondale

While staying in Carbondale at a local B&B we were looking for a local restaurant with good beer. Since we were on a motorcycle trip, it had to be within walking distance. We happened upon the Carbondale Beer Works. Looked a bit like a dive which works for us. The food was pretty good and the beer... read more

Okay beer, some healthy-ish menu selections, but overall there's nothing outstanding about this place. My friend described her hamburger as "not very flavorful" and her specialty cocktail as "weak with no buzz". There are what look to be large kale salads on the menu but no small side salads and no salads that aren't kale. I didn't think anything on... More

Brew pub were locals seem to hang out. Good beer and turnout. Limited food menu but if you looking for a burger you are in luck.

I have been going to Beer Works since it opened. The food was never bad, the menu was just very limited. Now they have lots of healthy options and some other really good dishes. Their beer used to be undrinkable and that has improved as well. They always have really good guest beers! The atmosphere is really fun too.

My husband and I had dinner here on a Saturday night. We went early, at about 5:45pm, and sat outside. There were plenty of seats available. It was a very pleasant warm evening; someone stopped by our table at one point asking if we'd like to have him start the propane heater, but we didn't need it. The staff were... More

My husband and I go here when we want a fresh beer. The variety of beer on tap is pretty good, considering it's a small brewery and restaurant. We haven't had the food yet, but everything on the menu and food that we have seen come out looks fresh and unique. Our service has always been amazing, but we sit... More

OK, the Smithy is a must if you are within 30 miles of Carbondale for a breakfast. We camp up the Crystal River Valley and make an annual pilgrimage to the Smithy. Great breakfast; very reasonably priced. Creative menu with Southwest influence. Enjoy the outside deck or eat inside. We were just there as we spent 3 days in the... More

The location and building was very cool and comfortable. The beers on tap were good but nothing special per se. My wife had the coconut porter which was quite good and I tried the Fall lager. Overall good, but nothing spectacular. Our server was very friendly and attentive which helps when the beer isn't top of the line!

My husband & I had dinner tonight and the hand cut fries were a treat... we usually don't eat fried food. Pulled pork sandwich was top notch as was my hash. The caramelized onions made the dish. Rather imaginative fare for a brew pub... Really a nice surprise for a couple nondrinkers.

and a really comfortable atmosphere. The menu must have changed since the last reviews in April, because we had plenty of choices beyond hotdogs. The entrees we picked were tasty.
