Nothing to write home about

Stopped in on my way to Gunnison and had lunch at the Coyote Cantina. It was OK. Not fantastic and not bad, just not anything significant to note about the food. Service was OK as well. At the junction of Hwys 285 & 24, we chose it over the alternative across the road due to all the pickups out front. A lot of locals apparently stop in. We got fast friendly service and good Mexican food and burgers. The place is huge once you get inside - two bars and two dining rooms. I imagine it... More

Seemed to be the only place open to eat at the junction of highways 285 and 24, but what a find. We had the Grande and mini-grande lunch burritos, WOW, each was huge and so very tasty !! We were there during lunch and given the crowd, service was good and the food was hot when served. Our waitress was... More

Stopped for breakfast while on the road...service was attentive and friendly, place has a funky ambiance. As a New Mexican I had never had gravy with chile- we need to import this concept to NM! half size of Max special was huge...

We stopped by the Coyote Cantina on our way through Buena Vista. The final decision came down to "they have a lot of cars in the lot". They are very conveniently located off of 285. Upon entering the place looks small and quaint. We were greeted promptly and were lead around to the back rooms for seating. They place turned... More

We've stopped here many times and always loved it. Tonight there were only 4 other tables, it took forever to get drinks or our order taken. I never got a spoon for my coffee, the margarita was awful. They've changed the menu, so we couldn't get shrimp enchiladas which we've always loved before. The food we did finally get was... More

Hmmm....in the heart of the rocky's in the middle of a blowing snow storm. looked like kinda of funky , cool place to stop and grad some "grub". What the heck....we all love Mexican and how bad can you screw that up?? The decor was exactly that . mix of "Urban Cowboy" ( sissy and buddy ) minus the mechanical... More

The food seems fairly consistent here, and they have a nice selection of Colorado microbrews (by the bottle) which is a big plus over your average Mexican restaurant that offers Dos Equis or Budweiser... Service was great for our first visit or two, but has been somewhat shoddy the last couple of times - including being seated for 10 minutes... More

i have eaten at coyote many times and have never had such poor service. When we pulled up the parking lot was 3/4 full. Went inside and was promptly sat then waited probably about 20 minutes before the server came over to take our drink order. While taking our order she was Inturpted multiple times by other employees. After taking... More

Good tourist stop for that western experience. Food OK, slightly better than routine "homoginized" Mexican. Considering location, a good place to stop on a journey from Denver to Durango!
