We had one of the best dining experiences last night at Black Cat. We had heard that the tasting menu was the best choice, and that advice was spot on. Black Cat also offers two levels of wine pairings with the tasting menu. We chose to order one of the standard pairing and one of the premium paring so we... More

While visiting Boulder to tour the college campus, my grandson & I walked by Black Cat restaurant one evening it looked very interesting and made reservations for the following night. My grandson has a unique interest and sensibility for food. The staff the night we dined were delightful, friendly but professional. We noticed that everyone does everything in the dining... More

As a fellow farmer focusing in animal husbandry at another local animal based farm, I would like to clear up a past review I have seen and strongly disagree with. I have visited the Black Cat Farm multiple times this past year, including the Oxford Road location that was mentioned in a previous review. This location sustains vegetables and pigs... More

Of the seven course tasting menu, only three courses had any wow factor. The remaining courses were merely okay. Not worth the hype or the price.

This may be the most overlooked jewel in all of Boulder (and maybe Denver metro). Small and intimate, it's a special-occasion place with top-notch food and service. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. It wasn't inexpensive, so our expectations were high and we weren't disappointed. Everything was perfect: the timing, the preparation, the service, and the flavors. That's... More

Our first course was really good, but the entrees were sloppy and not very good at all. We expected more for $30 a plate. My dish was a combination of duck confit, turkey and goose which sounded great, but came in a pile with a bunch of other items that looked like leftovers. One of the piles on my plate... More

Dinner for the first time at Black Cat with friends. Absolutely fantastic meal, fantastic friendly service. Every item on my plate had loads of flavor. I had a pork dish, my friend had duck. We split a mushroom soup. We met and chatted with the chef about farming, cooking, and the fall season.

We were invited to the Black Cat for a birthday dinner by our niece and her husband. And we drove from California for this wonderful evening! We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings. As the evening went on this was clearly a great choice, all three parts of the dining experience (food, wine and service) hit just the right... More

A truly terrific meal at Black Cat Bistro this week. It isn't that it's so fussy in preparation (though the preparations are complex enough to make you think about it). Or that the service is so amazing (it's warm, neighborly and sort of cuddly while being very professional. And it isn't only about the chefs-own-farm-to--your-fork freshness ––the chef virtually raises... More

With a menu that is not posted until just before opening, you are not sure what you can get to eat. One solution to that is to go ravenous and order the tasting menu which includes a selection of hors d'oeuvres, 2 first courses and 2 main courses plus dessert! Tempting since the theme of the restaurant is to offer... More
