A pleasant dinner. Menu is brief but offers a range of choices. A bit noisy even on a Wednesday evening but not overwhelming. If weather had been better we would have tried the patio.

We've eaten dinner at Mateo in the past but our first Sunday brunch was this past Easter Sunday. The menu if terrific and the tastes outstanding. The porc hash was unique, perfectly portioned and wonderful. My wife and elderly mother both had the Mateo breakfast with eggs perfectly done, fantastic potatoes and thick, crispy bacon. But what really stands out... More

Mateo is a gem on East Pearl St in Boulder. We felt like we had wandered into a small cafe in Provence. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere that is not loud or pretentious. The staff were friendly, attentive and knew their wine and cheese. I recommend the frommage cheese plate and any of their fresh salads. Also, the chicken... More

First off, I think the food at Mateos is excellent. Some of the best duck liver pate you will eat. Main courses are fabulous, their specials always terrific and the wine list is truly impressive. It was for all these reasons that I took some friends there for my wifes birthday. My gripe on this visit was the table we... More

We've had several celebratory meals for 6-8 people here as well as enjoyed couples meals. Fresh food well presented, lighter fare as well as heavier croque-monsieurs and steaks. Great frites, innovative cocktails, outdoor patio when it's warm enough. Sunday Brunch available also.

This is a pleasant bistro that serves excellent food, although the desserts don't measure up to the rest of the menu. The lobster raviolo is incredible. However, the dining experience was marred by poor service: inattentive, inept, slow. This is hard to understand, since the restaurant was only half full on the night we dined there. One would have thought... More

Mateo does it right; great food that is full of flavor but not huge portions; the way quality should be. The wine selections are well designed and the service is great. I love the small local atmosphere. Fine choice for lunch too.

I have enjoyed fine Bistro style dinners at Mateo before, but was pleased that they also do brunch. Four of us enjoyed a great after church meal on a pleasant, sunny day. Outdoor dining was possible in a covered courtyard, but the sun was so bright we chose to eat inside. From traditional buckwheat pancakes to more unusual "eggs in... More

...that's dubious honor. A little more notoriety would serve it well, but I hope they are thriving all the same. The food is excellent, our service by Emily was outstanding, the wine list is very interesting, and the ambiance is very pleasant. We plan to return often.

Went with family on advice, and it was wonderful on Halloween night. Great wines with a very astute bartender who knew his wine. Met the owners who were sitting next to us and who warmly introduced themselves. Congrats to them--what a gem. My wife had the duck, while me and my sister in law had the steak special which was...
