Odd couple: Aji / Leaf

I had two meals at Aji - dinner and brunch. At Aji you can also order off the Leaf menu. While Aji is a carnivore's dream (Elk tacos- ?), Leaf's menu is vegan. A bit of an odd couple, but it works. It was great for our large group of people with highly varied dietary preferences. I enjoyed both... read more

Had pozole, really excellent, deeply flavorful and two tacos that cost $8, one Elk Chorizo, and the other pork. Each came on a single tortilla, and the sauce made it moist and falling apart – not a good way to eat tacos... Of more import, they had no flavor; chorizo should have that distinct chorizo flavor, and instead it was... More

We stopped here for a late lunch on Sunday after a half marathon. The food was AMAZING! I had the chicken soft taco, beef soft taco and an elk soft taco (appetizer or tapas) and also a cup of the chicken tortilla soup. Everything was amazing, especially the elk taco! I would have never thought I'd enjoy something like that!... More

My husband and I went to Aji for dinner about a year ago and thought it was decent, but just had a Happy Hour there that knocked our socks off. The spicy strawberry mojitos are the best I've ever tasted. We had four different tacos and they were all delicious. Definitely one of our new favorite places for Happy Hour... More

We were overwhelmed by the crowds on Pearl so we walked a little bit past and ended up at Aji for brunch this past Sunday. I had their Chicken and Waffles and I really liked the spicy zing they added to the chicken. I was delighted. My husband had some kind of Benedict item that he also really enjoyed. We... More

The food taste and quality was mediocre. THE SERVICE WAS SLOW and POOR. The wait staff appeared depressed and anemic. The cost was too high in proportion to the quality and quantity of food. They have a good location which is the only explanation for why they may have survived over the years. I ate there 2 years ago and... More

The best part of this restaurant is that you can order from the Leaf menu (vegetarian restaurant next door). My husband ordered from the Aji menu and his food was greasy, cold, and heavy. My portobello burger from Leaf was fresh, one of the best I've had in town. During another visit during happy hour, I ordered vegetarian tacos directly... More

We visited Aji for Happy Hour and sat on the patio. The outdoor seating is nice and it's a great spot to order small plates and share with everyone. My personal favorite was the barbacoa taco.

Aji used to be my favorite restaurant on Pearl Street, but not so much anymore. Most disappointing is their customer service. The last time we tried to eat here, we spent 1.5 hours at the bar waiting for a table for three. We were told our wait would be 45 minutes and at first we didn't mind waiting. There were... More

We have lived in Latin America & spent a lot of subsequent time there. The food in Aji tries to replicate Latino food, but falls a bit short. I am guessing that to some degree the chefs are trying to cater to local tastes. The food is rather bland. The arepas bear little resemblance to the real thing. The waitstaff... More
