Margarita's On the Roof

There isn't a better way to spend lunch than on the roof of the Rio, sipping on some margs. The fountain seems to spit at you if you are close to it, but it does help beat the heat, along with the misters.

We enjoyed the food there and the fact that they made a point of seating us away from large noisy groups of younger people but unfortunately our waitress took our drink orders and forgot to come back. We had to ask another staff member to find her for us and she never explained or apologized even though we knew she... More

Two Boulder locals recommended Rio Grande. Three of us on June 7 were immediately seated on this warm day on the covered patio adjacent to Walnut, although we were offered the roof deck. Immediate service [restaurant was not crowded]. We all ordered different choices. I had a house margarita: strong, on the rocks, but smooth and the perfect balance of... More

Rio is always buzzing! High energy and tasty Mexican cuisine. Now that the weather is terrific and warm in Boulder, I suggest going upstairs to the rooftop deck. Happy hours are fun and it gets crowded but the service remains excellent.

Sitting at the bar is always an experience and it's up to the bartenders to make it a good one. We sat for a while without ever being greeted and then finally one of the two on duty took notice. The vibe was off on this day but it didn't make us stay long. We decided to get one drink... More

I come here for the margaritas and the rooftop views! The food is okay, but the drinks are delicious. Happy hour is the best bang for your buck too, so aim to be there by 6pm! If you're a fruity person (I have an extensive love for "cheerleader" beer), be sure to try the man-berry marg. It's a wonderful mix... More

Locals know this place for its margaritas, which are potent, accompanied by appetizers. Food is pretty average but the convenience to the University of Colorado attracts a young crowd and it's a good place to have a cocktail.

We recently ate here two nights in a row while attending a conference in Boulder. My husband and I ordered the same thing the second night that we did the first because we enjoyed it so much. I got the chicken burrito with green chile sauce and my husband ordered the braised pork burrito with green chile sauce, also. Their... More

The menu isn't too terribly extensive. I ordered the veggie fajitas that came with grilled squash, mushrooms, and tomato (in addition to lettuce, guac, tomatoes, sour cream, etc). The portions were large and the food was good. The beans weren't seasoned very well though. I would return. The waiter was very attentive and refilled the free chips and salsa when... More

Food, margaritas, and service were fantastic. Some of the best we have had and we are from the southwest so eat/drink a lot of both. Restaurant was noisy but many Mexican restaurants are.
