As an out-of-towner, whenever I am visiting Denver area, my friends know to take me to Rio. It's become a favourite thing to look forward to during my visit. Relaxed casual atmosphere, albeit a bit noisy with the college crowd, that is also part of the fun of the place, a young energetic crowd full of life. They have a... More

I have been in search for good chile verde and finally found it. Also bought authentic tamales to go. Yeah! So happy. Small simple place but very comfortable, friendly but the most important point is that the food is delicious. Even the salsa is amazing. Without a doubt the most authentic mexican restaurant in Boulder.

Standard Mexican fare, nothing ground breaking or new here. Everything was good but not spectacular. We liked out margarittas better than our food. Can get a little busy on the weekends, but we didn't have to wait at 8pm on Sat. The dinning area could have been a little cleaner. Service was good, prices were ok but not great but... More

I should have written sooner to say we did indeed try the restaurant again on two more recent occasions. The margaritas and service were great second time around, the food and service so much better. As locals we are glad we gave it another try. Will go back but probably not on a busy night. We enjoyed sitting on the... More

Had a wonderful meal with family and a long lost friend at Rio Grande. The staff was helpful in holding a table and adjusting our reservation. We enjoyed the happy hour specials...the hot bean and cheese dip was wonderful, pepper poppers and lots of guacamole and chips while we enjoyed well made margaritas. The food was hot and flavorful and... More

Wow this was a great Mexican restaurant that was recommended to us from locals. The margaritas were great and we shared a meal and it was plenty for us. we sat on the roof patio it was a beautiful day.

Bland tex-mex; dirty & loud; wait staff very friendly but understaffed. Grilled chicken tostado was plain & boring. Queso was almost like out of a box. You have to make a special request for ice water!

Tracy, Thank you for your review. It is always helpful to hear ways in which we can improve our atmosphere and offerings. Our menu is all made from scratch - fresh ingredients sourced locally, and each and every dish is made by hand, not processed in any way. Best Derek More

We had about 40 people in the Shift bar upstairs for a rehearsal dinner and the Rio staff and food were top notch. We had a Fajita Buffet and it was all delicious. (We actually ate leftovers two days later and they were still great!) Their margaritas are the best! The staff was excellent and kept the appetizers and drinks... More

This restaurant is located about a block off of the main area of the Pearl Street walking mall. It is casual and friendly. We were seated in an area that was not directly on the sidewalk, but was in an open window area that looks like it used to be an overhead garage door entrance. We got fresh air, and... More

Very large restaurant, with a small rooftop communal dining area. We were lucky that a table opened up as we walked onto the roof. Servers bring a pitcher of water to each table and salsa. Food was very good, atmosphere and people were very nice. The view of the mountains and city of Boulder is great! If I am ever... More
