Great seafood in landlocked Boulder

We eat here on every visit to Boulder. It is small and somewhat noisy, but offers the best seafood we've ever eaten away from the coasts. The selection of Pacific and Atlantic oysters is especially noteworthy. Highly recommend!

I've heard about Jax for some time now and finally made it there for dinner. It definitely lives up to its reputation. My colleague and I sat outside, which was great -- beautiful night, people-watching the Pearl St crowd. Better than sitting inside, which was crowded at the time. The food was wonderful. I ordered mussels in Thai curry sauce... More

This is our second trip to Jax; first was with the family and this time was my wife and me during happy hour (4-6 pm). The oysters are fresh and the appetizers very tasty. We enjoyed the gumbo, shrimp, calamari, and tuna. Overall great experience!

Since we were not as happy as usual with our dinner at Jax in June, the manager Vanessa invited us back for dinner, her treat. I have never had this experience before and do appreciate her generosity. I am so glad that we returned, the food -Sea Bass, Oysters, Tuna tapas, Caesar Salad and a perfectly yummy chocolate desert were... More

With the Café Boulder shutting down, this gem looks to capture ALL of the oyster affectionados who enjoy these bivalves raw or cooked. If you want a seat at their rather small bar, get there at opening time, 4pm. Oh, the menu looks great too, but for me it is always a progressive mollusk stop when visiting Boulder!

This is a small restaurant and bar with great atmosphere. The food is fantastic, especially the gluten free calamari. I usually don't like hopping, crowded places like this, but Jax works in every way.

You have to fight for a seat to eat at the bar, so I recommend making reservations. My husband and I dined on the oysters, curry clams (my favorite), the decadent clam chowder and craft drinks. The wait staff was quick and sincere. Their use of spices was right on! Something to write home about!
