Trendy & Tasty - Good if you aren't in a rush

There's a lot to like about Jax's. The decor is cool, the food is above-average, and who doesn't love to scribble on the walls with a color crayon? All of that stacks up to a 'Very Good' rating in my book. The caveat - 'trendy' in the restaurant business also seems to go hand-in-hand sometimes... read more

These guys make great drinks! I sat at the bar with my girlfriend, and watched them shuck oysters and sling drinks super fast! Which is even more impressive that they managed to stay clean and well composed as they did it! Classy joint!

Fresh oysters on the half shell, cold beers, martinis and other drinks. Given its name is it any wonder you'll want to get seafood? Do yourself a favor and get there right at 4 for happy hour as they have about a dozen happy hour menu selections that you can make a meal and save $$$. They have several options... More

Nice location right on Pearl Street. Nice bar but the restaurant is very noisy and difficult to hold a conversation. A bit pricey, especially for Oysters and Clams although I come from Long Island where these shellfish grow wild.

Let's face it: it ain't easy to find a terrific restaurant that captivates everyone from toddlers to venerable grandparents, but Jax did it. The kids drew on the table with the provided crayons and dined on salads and buttered noodles made just for wee ones while the adults enjoyed delicious cups of gumbo, gazpacho, and ceviche followed by ridiculously tasty... 4 of us ate a weeknight dinner here in June. The seafood is superb & makes you forget you are in the mountains. The place always seems crowded - not much space between tables. Service is very good. Prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality. Reservations are likely necessary. Only complaint is that the noise level... More

We eat here on every visit to Boulder. It is small and somewhat noisy, but offers the best seafood we've ever eaten away from the coasts. The selection of Pacific and Atlantic oysters is especially noteworthy. Highly recommend!

I've heard about Jax for some time now and finally made it there for dinner. It definitely lives up to its reputation. My colleague and I sat outside, which was great -- beautiful night, people-watching the Pearl St crowd. Better than sitting inside, which was crowded at the time. The food was wonderful. I ordered mussels in Thai curry sauce... More

This is our second trip to Jax; first was with the family and this time was my wife and me during happy hour (4-6 pm). The oysters are fresh and the appetizers very tasty. We enjoyed the gumbo, shrimp, calamari, and tuna. Overall great experience!
