Surprisingly Good Seafood in the Foothills

A very large selection of oysters and very fresh seafood, beautifully presented, with delicious fish dishes and scallops. Even the bread is special--make sure you order some! Pearl Street has many good restaurants, and this is our favorite so far.

After dinner, the Mrs. and I wanted to take in a few of the local bars... We were glad to end up at Jax. Very cool spot! We grabbed a couple seats at the bar and were warmly greeted by the bartender and oyster shucker. I am allergic to Oysters (I found that out the hard way a couple summers... More

My husband had the sea bass and said it was the best he had ever had. I had the short rib and it was great! Service and drinks were really good. Cute atmosphere with crayons for coloring on the table covers. Will definitely go back so we can try more stuff from the menu next time we get to come... More

We were very disappointed in Jax after reading all the excellent reviews. It is a fairly narrow restaurant, not too many tables and is located on Pearl Street. We made reservations for a busy Saturday night and were seated a few minutes after our reserved time. The waiter was fairly attentive and made a few helpful suggestions for us. The... More

You definitely want to go here for Happy Hour and sit at the Bar. Of course I ordered the Jax Mule, which was excellent: Vodka, Soda, Homemade Ginger Simple Syrup & Lime. I also had to have their "Exclusive" Boutique Emerson Oysters. They are from the Rappahannock River Oysters company in Topping VA and are perfectly balanced with a Salty/Briny... More

Boulder isn't the first place I think of when I think seafood but Jax did not disappoint! The service was the best in town and the sea bass and appetizers were excellent. The place is small so expect a wait during busy times but it's definitely worth it.

On the last night of our vacation, we decided to bring our parents to a more upscale restaurant in Boulder. We picked Jax bc the menu was amazing and the atmosphere was nice, but not pretentious. We made a reservation for 5 adults and were promptly seated upon arrival. The appetizers-peeled shrimp and hush-kitties- were delicious! For my entrée, I... More

Jax has a prime location on Pearl Street and was very crowded when we went. It was a little pricier than I expected. However, the menu was unique with many great seafood options. I enjoyed the king crab and hush kitties. Check this place out if you are a seafood lover - overall good experience. Great service too.

Super fresh, delicious seafood with friendly professional staff. Great suggestions and wine offerings. It is loud, but not too much - just a very busy place!

This has been Boulder's prime seafood restaurant and remains so. The food is excellent and the service is fine, the setting is a trifle too noisy. The Happy Hour can't be beat! It has had amazing success and the quality is still first rate.
