Great atmosphere!

This was recommended to us by my sister who was here in February. We drove from Glennwood Springs (30 minutes) to try it. Loved the atmosphere here! We did have to wait about 30 minutes on a Sunday night. It is located in a upscale shopping and restuarant area. The fajitas had a great... read more

We drive an hour to eat here, that's how much we like it. Nice atmosphere - good for family groups! Great selection on the menu. Wish we had one closer to home - we'd go more often!

My family and I drove from New Castle to our favorite restaurant last Sunday. Like always the food was delicious. Upon receiving our check we noticed a gratuity charge had been added. I had never been charged a gratuity for a family of four. When my husband asked the waiter why the gratuity was added his response was " My... More

Though the food has always been good the service is ridiculous. If you are not Hispanic do not plan on getting any sort of friendly service. Expect to wait for all the Hispanic patrons to get their food before you, and to pretty much be ignored.

I think you can tell by that title adjective it is not for you! It was terrible. We walked in and it had a unique odor... Fishy! We ordered queso app and two entrees and two ice teas. The queso came and it appeared to be a block of cheese zapped till melted. Difficult at best to eat. Greasy and... More

The whole red snapper at El Karita is better then any i had in Mexico. The food is delicious, well worth the drive from Aspen. The staff work hard to cover all those tables, and the outside patio is a great place to watch the sunset over delicious house margheritas

I've been going here for years and have never had a "bad" experience in terms of food. Sometimes on Fri/Sat they get really busy and you might have a 15-30 wait but it is so worth it. The staff is sweet and the food is tasty- what more can you ask for!

I visit Basalt regularly and it doesn't take much to get me in the mood for El Karita. The restaurant derives from a Nayarita heritage and their food is varied and hearty, served in a convivial atmosphere of brightly painted furnishings from Mexico. On this visit I sat at the bar and had the Seafood Molcajete. This dish comes out... More

This restaurant is always packed. However, we've had good food and not so good food, but never great food. The service is very slow. It is also a loud seating area unless you can snag a booth along the wall. We rarely go here anymore due to the prices, inconsistent food quality, and the terribly slow service.
