We are a neighborhood-oriented, made from scratch, casual restaurant. The feel is young, hip transcending the perception of BBQ restaurants past. Serving a variety of draft and bottled microbrews representing local breweries and popular brews from great BBQ regions (Texas, the Carolinas, Memphis/Arkansas and Kansas City) we feature an approachable wine list and a full line of spirits. The menu is driven by the chefs and their Southern roots, the Great American BBQ traditions as well as seasonal and regional products.

We ordered a meal to go on our first night in town. Food was good and as expected from the other reviews. Pricing was in line with other local places. We would eat here again and give it a good recommendation. It is close to the grocery stores, so we shopped while they were preparing our food.

They have the best cheesy grits. Even if you don't like grits you'll love them. Kids love the mac and cheese. Super cheesy and yummy. Not much option for vegetarian but there is a couple options.

Smoke Modern BBQ is located among new, sort of modern western buildings, between Basalt and Carbondale. It offers a nice concept: real smoked BBQ served in a nice restaurant rather than a road-side dive. Busy on a Thursday evening, buzzing with a manageable noise level, Smoke's service was prompt and professional. Two of us shared ribs and brisket with mac... More

Smoke is one of our "go to" restaurants. They have great, consistent service and food. Lunch specifically is a great option with fast service. Their southwest salad is one of the best I've ever had - the shrimp make it that great! Pulled pork and sweet potato fries are the best around. All meals can be shared with a girlfriend;... More

Loved our meal at Smoke. Excellent atmosphere and great side toons like Mac and cheese or creamed spinach. A little pricey but perfect for a splurge night.

We dined at the Smoke Modern BBQ this past weekend and had excellent food and service! Order the BBQ and you won't be disappointed! We plan to dine there next time we visit Basalt!

No wait, great wait staff, reasonable prices, and most of all great food! The Louisiana type items on the menu were authentic (which surprised me as a discerning Cajun foodie). The only thing that I could be critical of is the loudness of the restaurant, but this a stretch considering this is the nicest rib joint I have ever been... More

We were a party of four for dinner on a Sunday night. Two had 2 meat plates while another had the fried catfish fingers. The barbecued brisket, chicken and pulled pork were juicy and had a good smoked flavor. Fried catfish was crispy and came with a large order of sweet–potato fries. Creamed spinach sides were also tasty. I had... More
