This place is another of Thomas Keller's creations. The atmosphere and ambiance are very California casual. The bar area looks like a great place to hang out and enjoy some fine wines. On the night we selected, we were promptly seated by the very courteous hostess. Our server was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. The food was out of... More

Liked the idea of comfort food, but the execution did not live up to its hype or the price. Perhaps my expectations were high based on my experience at Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster, but Thomas Keller's fixed price fried chicken dinner at $300 ( with wine) was quite a disappointment: a glorified KFC meal for the snobs , who were... If you go to Ad Hoc expecting anything remotely similar to the type of food that you would get at French Laundry, you will be sorely disappointed. We thought that a fixed-priced menu would at least produce something interesting, but instead we got brownies and ice cream for dessert (seriously?! on a fixed priced menu!), a big cut of cheese... When all ; food, decor, service, venue are good and value for money too it's excellent. My second time here and probably will make it again in my next trip.

Wanted to visit again because my first visit was not the greatest. Second time wasn't much better. Service was only average and the food was not the greatest. Atmosphere is nice but not enough to justify the price. If you haven't been I would give it a try maybe the food will be better. Personally can't give them a third... More

Got off to a rocky start with a Bloody Mary that was one of the least distinguished Bloodys I've ever had. Thin and seriously lacking in flavor. Mentioning it to the wait person, he took it away without my even having to ask, and later, after tasting the mix, said he totally agreed with me. The salad was very fresh,... More

After being referred here by friends, we were super excited to go to this Michelin-rated Thomas Keller restaurant. However, we ended up paying $177 for fried chicken and some corn bread. To be honest, we were expecting much more than finger food for the price we paid for this meal. Try another place; while the food was decent, it was... More

This is the second time I have been here and I have to say this visit was not all it's talked up to be. The steak was tough with no flavor, greens were bitter and the top shelf Shirah was not impressive. The Caesar salad was actually tasty and the service was excellent. I love the atmosphere of the place... More

Oh my. Not being fried chicken enthusiasts we were pleasantly surprised by an amazing dinner with incredible wine pairings. Not that we were surprised after reading so much hype about Ad Hoc, and visiting other Thomas Keller restaurants over the years. Very pleasant service and a really nice staff. Food was all served family style, and plenty of it. We... More
