Not to be missed on the weekend

Great weekend hangout with solid breakfast dishes paired nicely with their spicy bloody mary - the last bit is passenger fair only. Motorcycle and performance cars abound and all this activity among the fragrance of pine trees makes Alice's a stop that is not to be missed.

Alice's restaurant is in a stunning location on the Skyline and hidden in the trees however it is surrounded by old and new cars and motorbikes at a weekend. This is not a posh place but is such a fun place. The staff are friendly and the portions generous. It is very reasonably priced too. Good and homely cooking at... More

Alice's is a local funky hangout in the middle of the redwoods, on the top of the San Francisco Peninsula, and it seems to be the standard motorcycle destination on the weekends. Breakfast and lunch are standard fair and nothing to look forward to, as is the standard dinner menu. But the dinner /specials/ are quite good, with a good... More

I had a really great fresh grilled mahi mahi "burger" on a whole wheat bun and sweet potato fries and was in heaven as I was starving after a day of hiking and visit to Ano Nueva State Preserve to see the Elephant Seals. The chipotle sauce for the fries and sandwich was the same and had a disgusting "skin"... More

Families, bikers, grandparents...it's a nice mix. Long wait for a table. Still feels funky, but food isn't special. It's an "outing."

We just had dinner here on Saturday night and I would love to return during the daytime. I was happy to see all of the locally sourced options. It's a great location and the menu has something for everyone.

That’s the title of the humorous, 20-minute, song by Arlo Guthrie from the 1960’s and it put this place on the map, even some 40 years later. The menu is pretty extensive, perhaps you can’t get anything you want but they probably have any burger you want. The building dates back to the early 1900’s and so does the menu.... More

Food is quite good for the area, very few resteraunts near by. Nice place to stop on the weekend, you are likely to see a few exotic automobiles driving the roads to four courners (hwy 84 and skyline blvd San Mateo county) on a clear day!

I was driving route 1 along the coast and detoured to experience some more wooded areas. I happened upon Alice's and had to stop. Just a cute little place in the middle of nowhere. The interior is "lived-in"..in a good way! Random signs hanging on the walls, T-shirts for sale, bar stools covered in cowhide and very, very well-worn! I... More
