Food, atmosphere, service, all excellent! You will love it but make a res, way up in the mountain on Skyline so don't be in a hurry.

This place is not easy to get to but definitely worth the effort. The menu is extensive and very interesting (I had the elk medallions), the setting is charming and the waitstaff attentive.

We love Mountain House. We have been going there for years. It's great for a couples night out, or a large family gathering. The menu is amazing. The meat/fish selection is second to none. We love the elk, bear, boar, and whatever else surprises us on the daily menu.

We reserved our table via open table and noted this was our anniversary dinner. I have dietary requirements and they were very helpful picking a meal Venison that was relatively low in fat with steamed veggies the side. My wife had a prawn meal that I can't remember the name of, we both loved the food and cleaned our plates.... More

I ordered the lamb with pilaf and veggies. The lamb was covered with a sweet mint sauce that overpowered the flavor of the lamb. I never actually tasted the lamb, though it was cooked to order. The pilaf was more like mushy tri-colored pasta; I was shocked they would put that item on a plate. It tasted and looked like... More

Our grandson who works at Google raved about the food and view and suggested we eat here. He was not exaggerating for the food was outstanding!! My New Zealand venison filet in a rasberry reduction was cooked to perfection. It was delectable and would stand up to a Peter Lugar steak. The garlic mashed potatos added to to this delicious... My husband and I went to this Restaurant several time, the first two we had a great wild humburger at the bar so we decided to eat at the formal dining. I must say the decor is quite old, needs an update, the waitress are nice and they know what they are doing. Last time that we eat there I... More

My wife and I have been to this restaurant twice, most recently this past February. Although many people rave about this restaurant, I suspect most reviews are by proud locals trying to cheer on their neighborhood restaurant. The honest facts tell a different story. The food is without exception bland and poorly prepared. Example 1: "Tomato soup" was tomato sauce... More

We haven't been at the Mountain House in years. We had to drive our daughter to HMB and decided on going out for dinner. I was thinking a place on the coast, when my husband mentioned the Mountain House. I made reservations on line and asked for a table near the fire place. We were greeted right away. Walked straight... More

The corn fritters were burned, the salad was overdressed but the entrees were good. Our waiter "Wade" has been there a long time and knew his stuff. Takes forever to get there from Menlo Park so we won't be heading back soon but it was a nice night out.
