Really wanted to like El Charro, specially after reading all the other reviews. But just couldn't warm up to this restaurant. Decor is off-putting, high ceilings, a mix of booths and tables that has a kind of waiting room feel to it. Service was good, not great. I usually order something with pork, either al pastor or carnitas as a... More

Took our soccer team to eat here after playing in the State Cup in the Woodland Community Center. The restaurant has a lot of seating and were able to make up one long table, despite already having a large family group seated. Full marks to the staff for staying cheerful when taking orders from the boys and separating everything onto... More

Located on Main Street, Woodland is one of my favorite Mexican resturants. El Charro is not some weird fusion chefs attempt at cullinary art. Where you got some sort of seared free range rabbit taco in a lime butter cream freiche. Nor is it a South Park style Casa Bonita, over the top waterfall cliff diver and mariachi band amusement... What a great find! We went to El Charro with our daughter and son-in-law for dinner and each of us left there commenting on our how delicious it was. They have an extensive menu - with so many dishes we had difficulty choosing. Our daughter's veggie burrito was HUGE and our son-in-law's carne asada filled his plate. My wife's taco... More

Breakfast, lunch or dinner, we love El Charro in Woodland, CA. Authentic Mexican cuisine in a charming environment that reminds me of California Mexican ambience of a bygone era. Generous portions that are reasonably priced. The staff is warm and friendly. This has become our usual stop whenever we are in Woodland.

Great service, great food, great architecture, loved it. The food was as good as any restaurant of this style I've ever been to, at a very fare price. Bar area, with a great family feel atmosphere.

Placed in the inviting historic setting of old Downtown Woodland, El Charro provided exactly the kind of 'zip' I was looking for to start my day. The friendly staff was quite amenable to modifying the menu slightly to provide precisely the kind of traditional huevos rancheros I wanted. Topped with their interesting picante salsa, I ended up taking my time.... More

We love El Charro! Their food is authentic and plentiful, the service is fabulous and friendly, and they have a full bar. They make killer margies, too, and everything is well-priced. Can't say enough good things about this place.
