Best sushi in Westlake

We've been regulars here since we moved to Thousand Oaks 2 yeas ago. The service and food are consistently excellent. Very fresh and friendly. Reasonably priced.

I know my westlake relatives really enjoy this spot. I found the spider roll fishy and missing the claws. Salmon and avocado roll had seemingly wet or mushy rice and little flavor. Missing some wasabi in the mix. The crunchy roll was good but again kind of blah. Miso soup has nothing but broth where I'm used to some greens... More

I went for the first time with a business group for lunch -- the restaurant is small, and not really set-up to handle large groups. we had 14 people, at 3 tables. Service was quick & efficient. I have the Sushi Lunch sampler which was good.

I love sashimi and most of the time Japanese restaurants fail at this "no cooking" plate. I experienced the famous/break your budget "Q" restaurant for an Omakasi feast, and after that it was even harder to accept a thin slab of raw fish presented as a "sashimi" dish served with plastic Shiso imitation. Kaminari sashimi was awesome! delicate absolutely lovely... More

My husband and I went to dinner here during the week based on the amazing reviews...don't get me wrong, it was good, just not great. We have another sushi place in the area we like better, so I don't think we'll be back. Again, worth trying and absolutely nothing to complain about, but I just don't see what all the... More

Always a great meal. Albacore, halibut with sea salt, sea bream sushi are great. Try the red dragon roll - California roll with tempura green beans and spicy tuna on top.

Some of the best sushi/sashimi I've had. Extremely fresh -- salmon, yellow tail, tuna and albacore -- all very soft and succulent. Rivals Sugarfish. It's in a strip mall, but it's a very tasteful space.

Kaminari is a relatively small restaurant, staffed by pleasant and accommodating people. The sashimi, which I invariably have, is fresh and attractively prepared. I have eaten at Kaminari many times and have never been disappointed. It is not inexpensive, but given the quality, well worth the price.

This is the best sushi restaurant. Service is alway friendly and great. We always have the albacore sushi and the halibut with sea salt is fantastic. Howard, the owner, is a great guy. Tad, Shingo and Howard make the atmosphere warm and friendly. This is what a sushi restaurant should be. The other patrons are great company and often regulars.
