My daughter found Sal's on a search on her phone. Had a late lunch there. Marvelous. Went back for breakfast. Great huevos rancheros. Had lunch there another day. Would fly back to Sacramento just to eat at Sal's.

I drove by this place for years before I gave it a try. Now I am there at least once every couple weeks. This is not only the best Mexican food in town, but it is the best food in this town.

As usual I'm on the lookout for a locally owned restaurant that is off of the tourist loop. I had the carnita enchilada plate. There is a self help salsa bar with a good selection of salsas. The food was excellent and the salsa was exceptional. The best recommendation that I can give is that I will be back. Next... More

We were staying near the river and decided to take the bridge over to West Sac to look for dinner. There sere plenty of cars in the parking lot so we decided to stop in, we were glad we did. They have lots of choices, reasonable prices and a great salsa bar. The food is filling, authentic and very good.... More

Loved the pork taquitos, especially with the number of salsas - from hot red chili to chile verde to mild fire-roasted tomato - and fresh radishes and lime wedges. The tamales were good and meaty, but the masa was a little on the dry side. The little tacos were yummy and the enchiladas looked good, too. For a small place... More

This restaurant is tucked in a little neighborhood across the river from the capitol and close to IKEA. Walk up ordering only, chips and salsa bar included with meal, nice lively atmosphere. Food is fantastic, try the Mega Wet Burrito if you are real hungry. Negra Modelo on tap with large mug sizes. Lots of tile artwork to look at.
