Food is ok, nothing fancy. But I had an unpleasant situation. I went with my family, carrying my baby's stroller. They gently took it to the back, to park it. I had my DLSR camera hanging from the strollers handle. When I goy back I realized my camera was gone. Called the restaurant, manager took my call, did NOTHING to... More

I had been to Mel's awhile back...like 15 years ago. I only rated it 3 stars because there was nothing exceptional about the place. It has a really great atmosphere The burgers are a la cart which is weird at a diner, the beers are expensive for a diner too. I had a burger which is served on grilled bread... More

They were celebrating 60 years of service and I can see why they have lasted as long as they have. Generous portions, friendly staff, great environment and even free valet! Couldn't get much better than that! Had a delicious omlette and coffee for breakfast before heading out exploring since I had never been to California before. This place didn't disappoint.... More

As the title states-a classic American diner with everything you expect and more! Great food, comfortable, retro surroundings and super service.

Great Americana look and feel. Food available 24 hours a day ranging from breakfast to smoothies to turkey dinner with mashed potatoes. Prices are good and you will feel good the whole time you are there...totally classic.

Fancy a fun and filling old-school American dining experience? This place is an absolute must. I love the fifties style decor and the very best of American service, while you need to make sure you've plenty of time to digest the menu - not literally, although I'm sure they'll be fine with that. Prices are really reasonable, too, and it's... More

Portions were good, as well as the servive, but the food was very disappointing. Bland, uninspired, boring. We were told by our server we had to have the mashed potatoes because they are made in-house. REALLY?!? They don't come in a plastic bag or are rehydrated from powder!?! How is that a selling point. Prices are also a little high... More

First visit to Mels and it's certainly got some history about it as it appears that's it's featured on a few film sets in the past. Not surprisingly, as it's beautiful inside, very retro. We went for an evening meal, I had a chilli burger and my wife had chicken jalapeño. Both tasty and ample portions. Service was very good... More
