Cool place

Very cool diner with lots of history and photos on the wall. I went to "check-it-off-the-LA-list" of things to do. We went for breakfast in a Sunday and the food was plentiful enough, the milkshakes were very good, and the service/food came quickly. Definitely recommended for anyone visiting LA.

If you are looking for something American, as opposed to the plethora of other types of restaurant, Mel's is worth a visit. The meatloaf is recommended. Juke boxes at each table, it has the feel of that Diner that you see in the movies.Nothing in LA is cheap, but here you can get a good meal for your money.

While in LA, we ate at the famous Mels and left wondering what all the fuss was about.... Diners are a part of our culture here in Oklahoma so maybe we take the friendly 50's diner atmosphere and home cookin' for granted...? The food was good, but we definitely were charged for it. We were hoping to at least catch... More

This was our second trip to Mel's. All four of us enjoyed our food and enjoyed people watching what wanders up and down the strip. Our waiter took great care of us. Nostalgic place worth a stop.

The place is like a classic 50s diner with large booths and jukebox selections at each table. It is clean with lots of shiny chrome. Some of the food was good, particularly the meatloaf and pulled pork sandwich. Other dishes were pretty average.

Vintage diner walking distance from our hotel. We all got something different and it was pretty good. Nothing spectacular and it was a bit pricey we thought.

It has to be said that Mel's is a piece of Hollywood history. You will not get a more typical American Diner, and in the heart of Holllywood as well. I just love the decor: it is like stepping back to the fifties...so very charming. The service is attentive and the food is good too. Unpretentious, of course, but then,... More

Good diner food at "reasonable" LA prices. Unfortunately this was not the original diner used in the movie "American Graffiti", as the one in the film is in San Francisco. Still had a lot of photos and images from the movie. Could have spent more time just reading all the posters and trivia about the movie.
