this was my favorite breakfast! I just love diners and this was perfect. plus it is always open so we could get in here before 8 am and get breakfast out of the way for the rest of the day. we came back here another day and tried the milkshakes which were good also. it's right on sunset and has... Driving down Sunset Blvd early on a Sunday evening needed a bite to eat, couldn't miss this - easy to spot. Parking readily available, and since we were with a) teenagers and b) a movie buff, we are normally game to try any of these retro-styled diners we see. Atmosphere was fun with the old photos and the 50's/60's style... More

Service was great, portions were filling, the ice tea was not the sweetend stuff you get in bottles, it's actually real tea! Large assortment of pies, and the drinks are huge! Seriously, gotta try it out!

Totally derailed by jet-lag (I'd flown in from Sydney), and absolutely wide awake at 2 a.m., craving a burger and a glass of red, Mel's certainly served the need (except for the red, there's a law against serving alcohol after a certain hour and that wasn't a deal-breaker). Delicious food, very interesting people watching, all in all…quite nice for a... More

The valet parking was a bit much but my rented 2014 Camaro settled in nicely next to a paper plated Rolls Royce with sweet suicide doors. The dinner had a nostalgic theme that was very cool. Prices were fair by standards in this area and I was pleased with the service.

I've been going to Mel's for years. A stay in LA wouldn't be the same without it. This time though, I had a terrible experience. It took 10 minutes to get the waitresses attention, she kept looking the other way, which was very annoying. After we had managed to order, after 10 minutes of waving, the food arrived, my son's... Everyone talks about Mels Drive In, as its a must see in West Hollywood. I don't deny the authentic diner atmosphere and loved the table top jukeboxes, but the food was disappointing. I have coeliacs disease & have to eat gluten free, they didn't seem interested in catering for this at all, and basically just told me to have a... More

Mel's is a must-stop if you want a big traditional breakfast. The place has character, both inside and out. We sat outside and enjoyed the busy Sunset Strip traffic and people watching. Hubby ordered breakfast, myself burger sliders - all was good but not over the top. The orange juice was the show-stopper - really delicious and hand squeezed. Good... More
