Really fresh shrimp

I went to Sushiya when I first arrived in LA and I was so tired and needed a quick dinner. The Shrimp Tempura here is really good and they give you a nice sized portion, not too big and not too much and it made the perfect dinner after a six hour flight. The service is very casual and friendly... read more

I don't understand how anyone can enjoy the sushi here.. I LOVE sushi, I could eat it everyday but you couldn't pay me to eat the sushi here. They only thing this place has going for them is the location. Its a great place to sit on Sunset blvd, meet with some friends, people watch.. but if your going for... More

We where in west Hollywood on a family vacation doing all of the things tourists do. We stumbled upon this local restaurant after a long day and what a find the food is simply amazing we ended up eating there 3 times. The owner Glenn was an amazing host and he has a good choice of music. The bin bin... More

We had a great meal at Sushiya, courtesy of a recommendation from a colleague from Seattle, who always eats here when in LA. It was a warm evening and our group of 5 sat outside, soaking up the energy and noise of Sunset Blvd. From the outset the service was excellent and we never had a moment during the evening... More

I love Japanese food. I have been to the best of the best Japanese restaurants worldwide and this place destroys them all. I went to Nobu Malibu the day before stumbling across this place a year ago and besides the fact that Nobu is Amazing this establishment is just as good if not better for a fraction of the price... We visited this restaurant as we had walked past it a couple of times during our stay and the menu looked very good. At night the restaurant extends outside encompassing the front of the shops next door. It is a really good setting just watching the world go by. The food was great, I had recently eaten at Sushi Samba... More

Wow soooo happy we found this jewel. This place was the highlight of our trip to Cali. We got greeted & sat immediately facing the sunset strip outdoors. Amazing weather and people watching. Our server was seer & accommodating to all of our needs. Once the sushi arrived we were blown away by the quality. We eat sushi once a... More

We had a most spectacular meal at Sushiya. The appetizers were great, the best of them the Tuna carpaccio and also the spicy tuna chips. The lobster roll was ok and the dim sums also. The children had fried rice with chicken which was also appreciated.

I love sushi. I have had great sushi. Sushiya on Sunset is good sushi but the location is spectacular. Imagine sitting late at night in January on Sunset Boulevard people watching and having creamy rock shrimp tempura, mini burgers (yes mini burgers...they are yummy), etc. The crowd is eclectic. The food is good. The location is one of a kind.

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
