Family reunion here

Couldn't have been better-bar, food and ambiance are tops. We took over the whole place and they treated us like royalty. The chocolate cake at the end was divine. Drank an Eastside-a superb cocktail adorned with a slice of cucumber. Get one.

It has been here for what seems like forever. Suzanne Goin has been making the scene with her simple elegant interoperation of food and service for years. She has made LA a place for foodies to travel to and this is the first of the empire.

Sunday the menu is simple. Appetizer, two choices for entree and desert. In expensive wines are suggested. Took my 2 kids and their significant others, wife and myself. We had a delightful time. Few cocktails, bottle of red and a bottle of white and we all enjoyed the food, service and ambience. Perfect way to kill the end of the... More

The place feels tired. The menu is promising off the page but the results are uninspired, almost bad. A salad entrée is big-standard, flavorless lettuce with a creamy looking vinaigrette that doesn't help it. The market fish was perfectly cooked but the accompanying carrot top chermoula was texturally horrible and the carrots themselves lacking in sweetness and cooked to an... More

My wife, our son and I had dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We began with cocktails, two of which were custom requests and were perfect, followed by appetizers and entrees. The food is very elegantly prepared and presented, extremely inventive and delicious, and served in small but satisfying quantities. It was a lovely meal. We did not order... More

Went on a Wednesday night with some out of towners hoping that it'd live up to the hype... unfortunately it didn't. The setting of the restaurant itself is nice & the decor is relaxed with a California casual vibe. The service was pretty underwhelming. We had a table for four & were serviced by two gentlemen. Neither of them said... More

In contrast to many West Hollywood places that can be stuffy and old world, Lucques has at once a contemporary feel and a classic menu with superb service. Our party was unanimous in its praise for the sea bass, steak, short ribs, and lamb.

Dropped in for lunch while strolling down Melrose avenue and was really impressed. The place is walking distance from the new Restoration Hardware store. Service is attentive, food was great (by far, the best designer burgers and grilled cheese we ever had). There is a nice terrace at the back that was being set-up for a private event. Would not... We'd been to Lucques in the past and had a very good dinner. For some reason, either enticed by the flash of new or too sedentary, it took its annual cassoulet dinner to bring us back. The cassoulet with its duck confit and Toulouse sausage, savory white beans and bread crumb crust will forever be remembered, along with the wine... More

While the food was fairly decent and up to restaurant's reputation, several things were disappointing and everyone should be aware of it. Number 1, when presented with the bill, there was additional 3% "L.A. Health" tax. When I inquired from the waiter, one of them couldn't even explain it. Then the manager was called in and we were told that... More

Staying in West Hollywood

Neighborhood Profile
West Hollywood
For years, West Hollywood has been known as a hub for the LGBT communities in Los Angeles. Today it still maintains the title, but has also become the “it” neighborhood for the entertainment industry’s up-and-comers. Producers, directors, writers and aspiring actors call this area home. Known for great boutique shopping, vintage clothing stores, home décor shops and fitness studios, West Hollywood is a grid of wide boulevards and narrow residential streets. The neighborhood also has a concentration of the most avant-garde restaurants in Los Angeles (rivaled only by the burgeoning restaurant scene Downtown). A trip to the iconic Sunset Strip, with its many clubs, music venues, hotels and flashing lights won’t be forgotten.
