Pre-Mother's Day lunch

We always enjoy eating at Sasa. The service has always been great and the food also. As usual, we started with the Tuna Parfait which is always a favorite (although we found a slightly better one last weekend). We then enjoyed the Lettuce Wraps. These were also quite tasty although the lettuce was... read more

The place in Walnut Creek was not full when I went there for lunch (on a Tuesday) so I had some doubts. However, all the food I ordered were superb from zensai to dezato. I had sashimi deluxe for starters, Set C for main course, which includes grilled miso salmon, sake and maguro sashimi, hamachi nigiri, and negihama hand roll.... More

Having lived in Japan for 5 years, I can say that this place brought back some great memories through their food. Everything was fresh, delicious, and authentic. We wanted to order everything off the menu, but everything we did order was absolutely fantastic. The citrus hamachi was so fresh and flavorful. The miso eggplant was amazing and reminiscent of some... More

Took a friend out to lunch, and this was her choice. She just wanted Japanese food, and did not do any research. It's a very nice place, and the food was ok. We wanted a 'typical' Japanese meal of Terriyaki chicken and Tempura veges..... There weren't any chioes like this on the menu, so we had to order 'ala carte'......(... More

Sasa has been on our list to try for a long tie but for whatever the reason we did not make it happen. Fast forward to Mother's Day where I score a last minute reservation (thank you OpenTable!) Let start by saying the food is superb. Service - Spot on without being pushy. Service was prompt and our waitress upbeat.... More

As usual, we started with the Tuna Parfait which is always a favorite (although we found a slightly better one last weekend). We then enjoyed the Lettuce Wraps. The menu was changed in the past 6 months to more Japanese food rather than the fusion style previously. Loved the place before but would probably not go back again with the new menu.......too bad as it was our favorite spot in The Creek

My first time dining at Sasa and it definitely won't be my last. Not only is the venue beautiful, but the service and food was exceptional. Our server, Bill, gave us a quick education in sake and tastings to select one we enjoyed most. He asked if he could take our menus and select the food for us, noting any... More

After a bit of trail walking at Mount Diablo we were thirsty and hungry and happened to be in Walnut Creek in the late afternoon and stopped in at Sasa Izakaya for some drinks and food. The interior of the restaurant is quite attractive, with options to sit at the bar, on couches, at bar-height tables, or at standard-height dining... More

I have only been there twice, and sampled only two rolls, but they were among the best I've ever had. What is the most spectacular is the black cod. It is hard to find, and even harder to find so well prepared. I have never had it as good since Kyo-ya in the Palace Hotel in San Francisco closed several... More
