Great Food

We had our 50th Anniversary Part at the restaurant. The food was delicious and Michelle went out of her way to treat us well and be fare due to last minute changes and illness. Everyone loved the food and the local guests who didn't know the restaurant all plan on coming back. Everything is... read more

The meal started out alright enough, the waiter wasn't friendly but took our orders for starters and got on his way. The starters were good, everyones especially loved the octopus. Then trouble arouse, our waiter disappeared without saying goodbye. We then had to flag someone else down to eventually get our order and there was an hour plus wait between... More

This is the best restaurant in the county. This is authentic northern Italian cuisine and not simply a usual conglomeration of what is typically seen in Italian restaurants. WE have some favorites on the menu, such as the grilled octopus/calamari salad and the smoked duck sugo. These do make it hard for us to veer off and try other selections,... More

my husband and I went there because a couple we met told us it was authentic Italian. It is based no more northern italian faire. The sauces are more of what I would call a gravy. Southern Italian seems to be more red tomato based sauce. I had the peppardelle with wild boar sugo. It was good and I enjoyed... More

We were hopeful of finding something resembling "real" Italian food, however that was not the case here. The octopus and calamari salad was drenched in oil and vinegar, seriously overpowering the arugula and octopus. (Later the chef blamed it on the assistant chef, but the chef was not in the kitchen supervising. So....?) The spicy seafood brodetto was not a... More

We enjoyed our first visit to Ottavio and were welcomed warmly by the owners who are also chef and hostess. They were very accommodating and gracious! We both had pasta that was exceptional! Finished with a delicate, tasteful salad which completed the evening perfectly for us. We really savored every bite. We really enjoy local restaurants who strive to showcase... More

This restaurant serves some of the rare wild meats and bird that you cannot find in other restaurants here in Walnut Creek. The dishes are gourmet but a bit over the top.

It was a quiet Sunday night in Walnut Creek and the diners were home all nestle in their beds. I order the recommended duck dish along with a very good salad. The duck and figs were overwhelmed by a red sauce that simply failed in its mission. Excellent service on a very quiet night and I wonder if the backup... More

There are lots of Italian restaurants in the Wanut Creek area, but this one is more Italian than most. The solicitous owner hails from the Venuto and the menu anf preparations hew closely to those roots. The sauces have none of the bland quality often tasted in Italian American restaurants. I found this to be a big plus, but others... More

Spot on TA rating helps us again! Looking for a Sat evening family dinner spot in downtown, we chose Ottavio based on its good TA reviews. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality & authenticity of italian food at this restaurant. Location: In downtown, though at the 'other' end from the major shopping area. Ambiance: small & intimate. Not much... More
