The service was unfriendly. Manager was great! Check in in on the table twice and eager to please. The server however was rude to my girlfriend and just not the best customer service. The food was as expected at a diner. Neither dish wowed my girlfriend or myself but was neither inedible. Overall check this place out if you love... More

They have pretty good food for the money. They give you a lot of food that reminds you of home cooking. Definitely recommend you stop there to eat if you are in Tulare.

We were able to walk right in and get a seat quickly. I ordered the tri tip dinner that was the less menu. There was more than enough food for me. The meal consisted of a dinner salad that was average. The dinner itself came with 3 decent sized slices of tri tip that could have been a little more... More

on our way home from a Northern California vacation we stopped at a Black Bear Diner in Suisun City (they seem to be everywhere). Service is friendly, menu is large. Hubby got a waffle combo (waffle has a bear paw imprinted on it, cute) and I got an omelette with a biscuit. Biscuit was huge and fluffy like Grandma used... More

Heading north on the 99 we should have stopped to eat in Bakersfield. But we didn't. So as we approached Tulare we were starving! There was no place to stop. But, we then saw the sign directing us to the Black Bear Diner. Located on the west side of the highway, this restaurant is conveniently located. The food was plentiful... More

My wife and I just went there for lunch and would not order their "Little Less" pork rib and tri tip dinners again. The meats were very unappealing without much flavor. The salad and the fresh vegetables were the best things on the plates. I usually stick with the Rueben or patty melt, or just get a breakfast such as... More

This is a kitschy, fun, fill-your-tummy-sort of place. If you want haute cuisine, keep going! If you want a FULL tummy, this is your place. Would highly recommend sharing portions, as I felt like a glutton and still didn't really dent the portions they provided...

My wife and I have a long and happy experience with this restaurant. We are very satisfed with their food and staff. They have a varied menu with excellent home cooking style. Just remember to come hungry. Their portions are large. We usually have the meal cut in half before we are served. We eat the other half at home... More

Came for breakfast then saw the deserts. Amazing gluten free brownie. Cook made my breakfast to order in a clean pan maintaining gluten free cross contamination.
