Pacific Crest is a long-time Truckee restaurant. It's not pretentious. There isn't an abundance of gold and crystal to blind you. It's just a good menu done well. Prices are affordable so lots of Truckee regulars eat here all the time. Its bar is the world-class Bar of America, so take advantage!

Really like the old gold rush bar vibe and the food was surprisingly good. I had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and it hit the spot. Better food that most of the casual restaurants downtown.

We hadn't tried this place before, and thought each dish was very good. The portions were very generous, the ambience and type of American food felt 'home spun' in a very nice way. My only complaint was the noise level. The combo of bad acoustics and hwavy drinkers gave us all a headache when we left, but I would go... More

Closed and now known as Bar of America. Good food with indoor and outdoor seating during summer months. Very convenient location on the corner of Bridge Street and Commercial Row aka Donner Pass Road.

Worst restaurant service experienced in some time! Waitress was inattentive at best. Took forever to take order (wasnt busy), asked for second plate for a shared salad-forgot that. Water glass not refilled, food was ok ( chicken conchigle was good, ribeye was gristly) waitress left someone else's water glass on our table when she cleared dinner dishes!! Witnessed other patrons... More

This used to be our favorite restaurant in Truckee but it was recently bought and the name is now changed to Bar of America. We had perfect service but were not all that excited about the new menu. Most every dish had pancetta in it or cream - not great for people who don't eat red meat or are trying... More

Has a definite bistro feel! Great salads, pasta and pizza, with a glass of wine makes for a very pleasant lazy weekend lunch! One of our favorites when visitors come to town.

It seemed at our last visit to Bar of America in Truckee (formerly known at Pacific Crest Bar and Grill) that it's not what it used to be. We ordered the Ribeye steak. The sauce was fine and the medium rare steak was tasty, but there was way too much inedible gristle for a $38 piece of beef. The $26... More

We've eaten here before, and out of respect for the nice meals and service on those occasions, I've given them a slightly better rating than may be they deserve. My main complaint is with the service-- perhaps they had a personnel shortage our recent night there-- which ruined our experience. The food is decent. I do hope they fix whatever... More

We were greeted promptly by the hostess, and then again by the very cordial waitress. Service was good. While our server was reciting the specials, another patron supported the "French Dip" description so well that that was my choice. Boy, am I glad! It's one of the best French Dips I've had with thinly sliced prime rib and au jus.... More
