We stopped here for an early dinner. We had read that Guy Fieri had done a segment for his show at this restaurant and so our expectations were for an above average experience. The staff was pleasant, the diner ambiance was fine, but the food was disappointing. It was average tasting and the accompanying french fries were barely warm and... More

While in Truckee, my wife and I wanted to try the restaurant where Guy Fieri visited. Arrived at 7:30 for breakfast on a Saturday and there was no wait. Good, hot cup of coffee was promptly served. My wife ordered a simple bacon, eggs and hash browns. All cooked to her liking. I ordered the corned beef hash. Our waitress... More

My family stopped in and got seated in a section right by the kitchen. 20 minutes later and noone came to ask what we wanted to drink, or even to eat. Finally a young kid stops by and asks if we need anything more than the water they had brought us...huh? Like we would only stop in for a glass... More

This diner was made from two 1948 railroad cars. They are artfully put together and show off the art deco details. If you are really lucky, a train will pass by going over Donner Summit and it can be seen out the windows. The food is traditional American Breakfast fare, with most of the baked goods made on the site.... More

Our hotel recommended this joint since we had kids with us. You would never know this was a 'diner', the food was out of this world. Both of my kids had the Lobster Mac and loved everybite. My husband and I both had the Ribeye with Blue cheese. Easily the best steak I have every had. Cooked perfectly. Can't wait... More

Jax Truckee California, 530-550-7450 . If you're looking for good simple food and service ..... Don't stop here ..... Despite what Guy Fiere say's, in all due respect to him ..... and despite what it's owner Bud Haley espouses in his website about caring about food and people ..... . I recommend driving past this poor example of American ........ More

When you first walk in you think it will take forever to be seated because there is not much seating. What you don't see is the big room in back with the view to a big kitchen. The menu is very extensive.and prices pretty inexpensive. Happened to be stormy the day we were there (yes July summer storm) so comfort... More

Someone recommended we try Jax Diner. When we got there it was packed but they had open seating at the "bar". We ordered the sliders trio but the star of our meal was the "All Day Addiction" plate! It was gourmet, delightful, filling meal! The pesto was AMAZING. We're going back tomorrow & will share because honestly it was too... More

Wow, for $35.00 for a breakfast for 2 we should be raving but far from it. The eggs were hard and overcooked as was everything we ate. The sourdough toast had to be stale before it was toasted as it was the hardest toast I ever ate. The chicken fried steak was nothing more than a fried plate of crust.... More
