Great down home fare

We went as a whole family after a long day of skiing and there was something for everyone - even in our picky crew. The Caesar was pretty garlicky but we like it that way. Had to send the artichoke back because it hadn't been washed properly but the brought another out quickly with apologies. The... read more

We are locals and tired Cottonwood years and years ago. Found it good but not great. We decided to try again recently and were pleasantly surprised. I am glad the menu does change according to season/availability and the new dinners are very good. Service was good too and of course the view is hard to beat. I went again in... More

Great ambiance, wonderful staff, good food, and music on Thursday and Friday. A bit pricy but not for the Tahoe area.

I've set on the bar for a beer and a light dinner - and was pleasantly surprised by the not-your-standard courses, enjoyed it a lot.

We've been going to Cottonwood for years: in the winter for savory, warming fare; in the summer for dinner on the deck overlooking Truckee. We love the combination of familiar servers, good food, quite a nice wine list, and a warm and funky ambiance. As usual, we were not disappointed this week, but concerned to hear that the restaurant is... More

Hi Susan...Thanks for the nice words and for your past patronage. As the long time owner of Cottonwood, I am extremely confident that the new owners will maintain and improve upon the legacy of this wonderful place. They are diving in cautiously, and wisely keeping every employee including David Smith, our chef of 19 years. I encourage you to return... More

Great place to go if you want an authentically rustic atmosphere with good views of downtown Truckee. Get reservations and ask for a table with a view to downtown. I have been here at least 6 times now. Food is average; like another reviewer my salmon was rare despite asking for medium well. Menu is fairly unimaginative. I do recommend... More

Way over priced for very average food. The service was below average. Took 5 minutes just to get some hot sauce. The salmon came rare when we asked for it medium well. Nothing was above average other than the wine. Not sure what people like about this place.

Went there with about 10 people from work. Service was great and the food was fabulous. Good selection of wine and drinks, friendly atmosphere. It's up on the hill so also have a great view. It is more pricey than the other restaurants but well worth it and a good value.

We had dinner at Cottonwood last week follo0wing recommendations from several friends. All-in-all, we were very disappointed. The service was good, and the wind was good as well. I ordered the seafood stew, which was a 'signature dish' according to the server. The mussels were not fresh, the spices went in about three different directions, and there was so much... More

We arrived for a 6:30 reservation and a very large party on Thursday night 10/9/14. Our waiters were very attentive. My husband ordered the seafood stew and proclaimed it excellent. I ordered butternut squash enchiladas and found them to be very spicy, in fact the spice level was overpowering. There was live entertainment afterwards with a bluegrass band and they... More
