This place was right next to our hotel. We fortunately had to stay in Truckee for a few days and had the pleasure of finding this place.
This is a great spot in Truckee that serves Susie and Asian dishes. Food is very good with good selection. Like all Susie places you can get carried away ordering too many things and end up getting surprised by the bill. Lots of locals eat here, and on weekends it is full of tourists too. Plan on getting there early... More
I recently ate here with my family. The food was good but didn't blow me away. I did enjoy the panko crusted fried calamari, it was light and yummy. Our sushi rolls were good but we eat a lot of sushi and have very high expectations. Note they do not have a kids menu so parents have to be creative... More
Great food, what a surprise. We hadn't stopped before. The name put us off, what did we know! Friends said they had enjoyed a lunch so we tried it out. We'll go back again and again. Try everthing.
We ordered two vegetarian dishes, one was a rice bowl and one a noodle dish. When they came, half the ingredients that the menu said were in the rice dish were in the noodle dish and vice versa. There were also so many flies buzzing around us and our food the whole time that we couldn't even enjoy eating our... More
Japanese owner/master sushi chef= top notch fresh sashimi and rolls. Yes, they deliver in spades. Some of the freshest fish and most delicious rolls in the county (but not quite up to the high standards of Sushi in the Raw or Kaido in western county). Drink menu and sake=excellent. Service is knowledgable, fairly fast and efficient. But as some have... More
My family has eaten here a few times. The first time, we had a wonderful experience and the food was amazing. Since then, the quality has gone down with each visit. The last time, the service was horribly slow, we finally took the kids outside and had one of our party call when the food arrived. And the food, with... More
I arrived late to the hotel in Truckee. The staff recommended I give the Drunken Monkey a try because they were still open and the place was close. The folks got me right in and I sat at the bar and watched the sushi chef do his magic. I had two different types of rolls that contained ahi tuna. Both... More
This is so simple. Best sushi. Sustainably fished. Not expensive. Great atmosphere. Amazing cocktails. The chili lime martini is my all-time favorite drink. They have an extensive menu with a lot of delicious cooked pork and chicken dishes as well.
