Bountiful meal in an eclectic and rustic atmosphere

First reaction is surprise at the wild west themed restaurant with antique memorabilia and animal head trophies proudly displayed. Each table is met by a server with a cauldron of homemade bean soup. As we perused the menu, live music emerged from the adjoining bar. The meals were well prepared... read more

While wine tasting in the area, stopped in for a major dinner. The portions are quite large. Not a romantic setting but serviceable. The staff is friendly. Give it a shot, but soo many nice places to eat, not sure I would use up one of my nights to eat here upon returning to the area.

If you love food you have to go here. They bring out a cast iron pot of wonderful soup with beans, salsa, and tortillas. You then have a salad and then comes your steak along with a big pot of potatoes and bread. You get more than you can eat so left overs are a good reason to eat here,... More

I was suspicious that this would be a chain/tourist type of restaurant but it's not. The soup/beans/salsa thing that they start you with is really really good. It's way way too much food but no problem we just split a dinner and still had take home leftovers that made a great breakfast. The root beer float was a perfect nightcap,... More

Our waitress (with her trainee in tow) brought us 4 bowls and a large iron kettle of stew, a bowl of spicy beans and a bowl of Rotel-like cubed and spicy tomatoes - unsolicited. OK, some restaurants bring various items, whether chips and salsa, peanuts in the shell, breads, etcetera. What they did NOT say was that if you don't... More

Fun place to eat. There are a lot of entrée options from ribs to steak, chicken and seafood. Besides your entrée they serve soup, beans, bread and salsa as a starter. My husband and I actually split our entrée and ordered a "side plate" which meant we both got all the extra goodies, plus our own salad. We then split... More

We have had so many meals at AJ Spurs. The food is always top notch and the Sweet Breads are out of this worldl. The service is always excellent. The Bloody Mary's are the best I have ever had.

Portions are huge. Food very tasty. Wait staff attentive and friendly. Atmosphere casual. Hint: go very hungry. Prices a bit high, but as I said, portions are huge, so it balances out. We ordered steak, as well as a glass of wine each, and our dinner for two rang up about $100.00 with tip. Fun place, good plentiful food. Less... More

Lots of food, great atmosphere if you like dark western. Meat quality poor. Good service. We decided not to go back, too many better choices near by.

I have been going to AJ Spurs for many years. If you are hungry this is the place to go. It is very much the western dining experience that you are going for. If you are looking for a light salad, and fish, I wouldn't bother.. This is hearty food, and a lot of it. The food is priced on... More
