Local Diner, Local History, Good Food and Plenty of it

I liked to eat here quite often before I moved to North Carolina. The food is always good and the service is prompt and courteous. Great for lunches, too. I love all the local photos and mementos hung on the walls. A sign of a good restaurant is how many locals eat there and Kelcy's is always a... read more

Went here for breakfast. The breakfast was go and portion were also good. I like my eggs sunny side up and mine were done perfect. a lot of restaurants can't seem to do a proper sunny side up egg but Kelcy's can. The chicken fried steak was good not the best I have ever had but it was good. I... More

I only stop in for breakfast, its a coffee shop breakfast. The best part of the place is the walls of old Tehachapi photos. The history of the town is on the walls.

I ate there with my friend because I had heard that the food was good and the portions generous. The information was correct. I had the daily special and Dale had strawberry waffles. The diner was busy but we received our meals in a timely manner. The walls are covered with pictures of Tehachapi and Mojave.

Nothing particularly special here unless you like their in-house made chicken fried steak that is a local favorite. No bad dishes worth mentioning but solid country cooking that includes well prepared breakfasts that are local favorites. Prices most reasonable and okay for a quick fast meal or a slow cup of coffee and a visit with friends.

My wife and I were looking for breakfast en route from Santa Cruz to Phoenix, so we got off the highway and drove around town. Kelcy's struck us as potentially interesting, so we walked in and sat down at the counter. Service was prompt, although curt -- strange, since we almost the only customers on the early side of the... No, I cannot recommend this place for the food. At best it is average. We went there for breakfast after having been referred by the bakery across the street which does NOT serve a full breakfast. But does this place SPECIALIZE in breakfast? No, it does not. There was truly nothing on the menu which was special. The very nice... More

I was looking for lunch and just did not feel like Denny's. I wondered into the center of town and spied a diner next to an antique model train shop. I parked and made my way into the diner. The place is a little old, shopworn but quite inviting, clean and had a fairly large dining room on the side.... More

We used to go to Kelcy's more before their prices went up - $8.75 for a burger and French fries. The burger is about the size of a single In-n-Out burger. It is now served with a puny portion of shoe string potatoes. There French fries used to be better. So, very disappointed. Their homemade Thousand Island dressing is wonderful.... More

This place is in a little mall off of Hwy 202 (Valley Blvd.) and is a little tricky to get to, but is a classic diner style restaurant and well worth it. The prices are decent and the food is rather good . They have daily specials and the portions are rather large. So be sure to bring an appetite.... More
