Go for the chicken pot pie and baked goods

Tehachapi is a great place to take a break while on your road trip. While there, stop by the Apple Shed. The food is simple and delicious -- from burgers to blts, to chicken pot pie -- it's fresh and well prepared. The turnovers make great desserts as well.

Returned on Memorial Day weekend, Fri, 22 May 2015, to find the restaurant operating but the local displays and products stored with empty boxes thrown to the side. Atmosphere is just as important as the food. Very disappointing too when we asked the male greeter if there were any improvements made to the menu or fare and he didn't know.... More

Our tour to Tehachapi included lunch at the Apple Shed. This was a nice surprise. The salad bar had a great selection of items. What a surprise to find Dolmas and Greek olives as an offering. Greens were fresh and crispy. Included was a selection of three soup, cheese and broccoli, white clam chowder and African vegetable soup. The chicken... More

As a vegan, eating out can be a challenge. The Apple Shed had an excellent salad bar with plenty of nutrient-dense greens, beans, and vegetables. Husband's half club sandwich was as large as a full sandwich other places. Great homemade cherry pie for dessert. Prices reasonable. Very good place to stop when driving through Tehachapi at meal time!

This restaurant, now known simply as The Shed, is under new management and has really stepped up its offerings. If it's a burger you're looking for, get the Mike's One O'clock or the Build-Your-Own. The staff will ask you if you want a side, but even if you come hungry, you won't need it. Patties are made by hand on... More

We have been through Tehatchepi numerous times and never stopped here. What were we thinking. It was great. Our server Brooke was great. The food was fabulous. I had ham and eggs. The ham took up the whole plate. I munched on my left over ham all day. Eggs were perfectly cooked. Husband had fried bologna with eggs, and I'm... More

Stopped here Nov 1st. Was cold and drizzly so we couldn't have the picnic we usually plan at the nice little park on Tehachapi Blvd. so we tried the Apple Shed and were very pleased. Four of us and we all enjoyed our lunch. The soups were very good. I had the Turkey/apple/bacon/avacado sandwich---Wonderful!

Went there a few times while in town. Being with a few meat eaters I was concerned about how hard it would be to find something good. The salad bar rocked it. Lots of veggies, and then soup too. I didn't go hungry at all. And good beer choices too.
