Met the owner (a very nice man), and decided to bring my family to the restaurant. It's expensive, but the food is quite good. The calamari, beer prawns and ahi tuna were excellent starters. Beautiful presentation & tasty, unique flavors. Especially the...well, all of them. Wasn't blown away by the brick-chicken (too much skin for my taste)- but I understand... More

The old location has closed, and the new location at the Brockway golf course has not yet opened. It would have been nice to indicate this on their website or on the phone message machine. We arrived after spending 20 minutes trying to find them and were told there was no set opening date.

Went there tonight, 6 of us who live in Tahoe City for the winter. Arrived around 9pm, clearly a bit late for them, service began slow, and when only a few of us wanted an alcoholic beverage, the patron seemed unimpressed. The Blue Moon beer my friend order somehow came out as a bloody mary. Not wanting to cause a... More

We had an acceptable dinner with family from the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Steelhead was on the menu that night, and they enjoyed a West Coast treat.

We visit Lake Tahoe during the winter almost every year. During our visits we have dined at several area restaurants. Spindleshanks is one of the better restaurants in the area. The night we visited this establishment was mid week and there was not a big crowd. We were immediately seated in a comfortable booth. Service was excellent and the food... More

...absolutely great - the ahi is to die for, wish I had the recipe to take back to the uk!!! Try the 'flights' wine tasting menu, especially in happy hour. Great, prompt and friendly service - it would be hard to better this one!!!

This restaurant is hands down the best restaurant I've ever tried in the Lake Tahoe area. In the decade that I have been coming to this area, I have had many trials and errors with restaurants. It is unbelievably hard to find good food in Tahoe; most are mediocre and some are just awful. But after Spindleshanks, I have found... More

Let's start by saying this is Tahoe. And while there are some really memorable restaurants around the lake...the bar needs to be set a bit lower than San Francisco or Las Vegas. That said, Spindleshanks is a long time favorite for me, my family and friends. I've always found their servers to be humble, friendly and knowledgeable about both their... More

Food, service, and ambiance are always superior. Tuesday nights are all night happy hours with drink and appetizer specials in the bar($6,) like oysters bienzo, mussels in garlic sauce, ahi tuna over wontons, and lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing and bacon. We had spicy shrimp appetizer and pan fried artichoke. Both were excellent. There are also wine flights for... More
